Yeah. To hijack this thread, do I understand things correctly? That you go mid gain with the amp, then use the pedal to shape the distortion? And less distortion is better as the bass provides the heaviness?

you may not need a pedal at all. recording vs live are different beasts. often the sound you get from your amp when recorded won't sound the same as when you are just sitting there listening. just the nature of recording. bass can provide some heavy but not in all cases. |

I'd back off on the reverb with your distortion, it's sounds really muddy.

I don't remember my valvetronix sounding like this. It definitely sounds like there is too much distortion. A little goes a long way when recording.
