Symphony X - The Raging Season solo harmonies?
Hey guys!
I'm trying to figure out what type of harmonies Michael Romeo is doing in the end of his Raging Season solo. Around the 3:42 - 4:05 mark. I'm not sure what exactly is going on here. I'm not sure if it's the production itself that gives this section its unique sound or if its actually something in his playing. The roots sound dissonant, so what would his harmonies be for that? Doesn't sound like typical 3rds to me. Thanks! Last edited by PJIII : 03-13-2013 at 05:07 AM. |

I dont have the guitar here so Im probably wrong, but maybe he could be harmonising using tritones?

It'll definitely be the harmonies giving it that sound. It might very well be harmonised in straight parallel minor thirds, that is basically a non-diatonic harmony.
