Used vypyr 30 or mustang 2?
Hello, I've narrowed my beginner amp choices down a used Peavey Vypyr 30 or a used Mustang 2.
I want a modelling amp so I can try all sorts of effects as I am brand new to this but have taken 3 electric guitar lessons so far. I'm looking to play mostly metal things like hammerfall, metallica, nightwish, stuff like that. There's other stuff too that may require clean sounds instead. After reading a lot of stuff, it sounds like the Vypyr 15 was not the greatest choice since people don't like the 8 inch speaker. Luckily, I can get a used Vypyr 30 for only $100! (same price as the 15) Problem is, I'll have to buy it sight-unseen from a Guitar Center but that should be too big a of a problem right? Soo I guess what do you think? a used vypyr 30 that'll be shipped or go with something I can directly use at the store and take it from there. Would probably buy a vypyr 15 or mustang I at that point |

Vypyr 30.
And no, there won't be any problem buying used from GC. If there are any issues with the amp you can return it to your local GC for a refund or exchange.

Sweet! I'll go with the Vypyr 30 then. I can't wait! Turns out to be $120 with shipping, still a solid deal I think. I'm hoping it's a decent step up from the Vypyr 15

It is a fairly decent step up from the Vypyr 15 and for what you play it will work better than the Mustang. Great price too.

I just ordered the Vypyr 30. Went with that instead of the 15 because I read about some people saying that they found a 12" speaker to be much better than the 8" For the price of shipping, I figure it is worth the upgrade. Now I just need to get a guitar!

^ haha, guess I'm off to a good start then!
I don't know about the Agile, I've read a few good things about them. To start I'd rather buy a guitar that I can play in the store though. Looks to be some good used offerings at my local GC. There's also a great local music store that I'll check out too. Actually I've already gone to them before, goin back for round 2! |
