NAD! I need a leash now

So I had been in contact with a guy via email about buying his fryette sig x for 1k.
did a bit of research and though the sig x is a nice amp i felt it wasnt going to be for me.
so in a last email he said he had a Pitbull as well he would let go for the same price.

so I ended up getting a VHT era Pitbull hundred/cl with graphic eq. for 1k shipped
only thing its missing is a footswitch.. so i am on a hunt for one of those :/.

Review: (ALL AT neighbor friendly VOLUME) ill open it up tomorrow
The first thing i do when i get a new amp is set everything at noon and play.
Im dead serious when i say this thing on red channel eq'd this way.... sounds amazing.
ive had some high end amps and nothing sounded good flat eq even the DAR tuzzia lacked. after a bit more playing around. I realized the bottom end on this thing is HUGE! I mean gigantic. with the depth control at noon and bass around 2 this thing kicks triple recs around for fun in the bass. and its tight. everyone says how tight and controlled pitbulls are but I always just took it at face value.. this thing is unmerciful. definately not an amp for a mediocre guitarist (hoping ill clean my shit up now that I have to)
theres more gain on tap on the red channel than a 5153 and with the presence in the right spot it never compresses.

green channel can definately get up to that brown sound. but gain at below 9 and the right eq. this thing has super nice sparkly cleans. on par with the 5153

my only gripe is that the graphic eq controls the whole amplifier so if i have a set eq for the lead channel the cleans sound strange. but I dont have the footswitch now so i dont see that mattering as this is going to be a total metal amp as it is. cleans dont matter lol

thanks guys... I see my rivera going away soon. I dont have need for 5 heads :/. and this thing so far is really just making the ktre seem useless. its in the same class as focus as the ktre But as the leader in that class. the rivera just sounds dead after this..

I had heard these heads are picky with speakers and cab designs.
This sounds great on my splawn. and sounds great on my 1960a
although it was a tad bit hollow on the marshall I had to boost the mids a bit with the knob to make up. i blame this on the 12-75s as they are sans on the mids

Welcome to the Pittbull club. There's a picture of mine.

Those amps are just evil.

When you get a footswitch you can assign the EQ to any channel you like or kick it on manually.

Nice I one day hope to get my hands on a UL. kt88s in this thing? i cant even begin to think.

did these come with this trans front plate? It looks stock. not cut plexi glass its clean like it came from the factory like this. but ive never ever seen one like mine.

looks real cool when the tubes heat up though.

QUESTION?!? anyone else own these that have to let em warm up for a while? my other amps 5 mins and they are ready to go. this thing needed 15 mins before the tubes opened up. im thinkin new tubes? these look about as old as the vht name itself lol

I hate to be THAT guy, but the only thing the same about the company that makes these beasts and the one that makes those amps is the name. Google it. This kind of epic VHT is now under the name Fryette.

But seriously, these things absolutely slay. I would probably kill/give a nut for the opportunity to own one of these monsters.
But you know, Australia being Australia and all.....
I posted in the thread you made about the Sig:x and recommended you get it. You definitely made the right move here.

The happiest of New Amp Days to you, my friend.

Sick dude. I would love to get my hands on a higher gain VHT, I had a Pitbull 45 combo for a while, sick amp but it was definitely not the same caliber as that bad boy.

HNAD!

no thats what i mean.. this things an animal as it sits. but its the cl (el34) version.

I cant imagin the UL lol.

thanks to everyone else too. im very seriously happy with it so far. got a chance to open it up volume wise. and this thing only gets better. im very surpised at how quiet it is.
i had my decimator off (without knowing) and cranked to 50% it didnt make a single bit of noise.. takes to different axes very well.
had my AW-7 in front of it. as well as my regius both have d activator 7s and you can actually hear there difference in the woods.. NONE of my other amps do this the way the vht does.

I myself own a VHT-era Pittbull 50CL. These things are some serious pieces of equipment. Excellent tonal quality and clarity. It can be dialed in clean or dirty on either channel. It can produce spanky cleans, it could produce great, cutting lead tones. It could do amazing crunch and heavy rhythm tones. It can do whatever you want it to do without too much fiddling with knobs and switches. Sounds great at low volumes and sounds godly when cranked, IMO.

You're gonna have a lot of fun with the Pittbull. You made an excellent choice. Cheers.

EDIT: I really need to post some pictures of my own Pittbull one of these days....

EDIT 2: You'll want to get the footswitch because you can "EQ assign" to either channel. You can set it up so that the EQ only works for the red, only works for the green, or works for both.

pitbull isnt the right name for these.. pitbulls are generally not intelligent and all broot.

this is more like a doberman.. ruthless and cunning. its too damn refined of a sound no matter where the settings are. to be compared to a pitbull.

Nice. I really liked the 50/CL I had. That being said... If you ended up getting the CL, what gives you the impression that the Sig:X isn't your thing?

the cl has the neat eq option haha. althought I am without footswitch, its on its way from fryette now. Ill need that option for cut through with leads.

and its sadly just going to be a one trick pony amp. I dont need the EXTREMELY nice cleans the sig x offered. although the cleans here are pretty sparkly!.

I have two other amps that cover those options so no need to add another.

.... this thing has more bottom end than my Nitrox. I never EVER thought id find an amp that could boast that,.
