Help On Pickups Please - Slash or Page?

Help On Pickups Please - Slash or Page?

Does anyone know the differences.

I like the music of both artists, can the pickups be mixed and matched i.e. Slash Alnico in the neck and Whole Lotta Humbucker in the bridge?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Going in an Ibanez RG550 running through Yamaha DG130 amp head and Marshall 4x12 cabinet. Also through a Roland Cube when I've gotta be quiet :-(

if you like what they sound like then do it....but using their pickups doesn't mean you're going to get their sound

The Slash one in the neck as Slash primarily does his solos using the neck pickup. Jimmy Page one in the bridge as his solos are primarily using the bridge humbucker. This would be my choice.

^ that's what i'd have thought, though it's also worth checking they pair well together- it'll work ok, but they're not designed to match (in terms of tone as well as output)...

that's not trying to put you off or anything, they may well match absolutely fine.

it's also worth bearing in mind that a lot of early zep is a telecaster, too. You probably know that already, though.

Alnico II Pro in the neck is a great idea. I absolutely love mine, but the bridge one is very PAF ish if you know what I mean. I love this, and it's perfect for me, but do be aware of this.

Check out the Arcane PX8
I'm putting them in my next build this summer. Very sick. Hand wound and you get the best of a PAF combined with a high output pickup. More expensive tho... Hand wound

Just bear in mind that the Alnico II Pro (both the original and the Slash model) are made to have a very even and clear tone. If you like the sort of sound Slash gets (in either position), you need to be aware that that sort of sound is really down to the amp, not the pickups.
