Marshall MG cabs

I got a Blackstar Ht-5r combo a few weeks and I really like it, but would like to get a 4x12 cab to go with it for extra oomph. Theres an ad not too far from where I live where they are selling a 4x12 MG angeled cab for 150. i was wondering if you guys have experiences with these cabs and if you think it will be worth it. i'll be using the cab as home practice and jamming with a friend who plays bass

Nope. Don't even think about it, the cab construction and quality is very, very poor.

Save your money.

You'd be better off with a decent 2x12 than a 4x12 MG cab. They're as shitty as the amps.
If you are in the US take a look at Avatar Speakers.

Carvin sells a 1x12 for $225 and a 2x12 for about that much. I'm sure the 1x12 has a much better speaker than the 2x12.

They also have a couple 2x12's for $300-$500. I used to have a 2x12 legacy cab and it was ok before I swapped one V30 out for a G12-75. It sounded much better afterwards.

If you can find a B-52 2x12 or 4x12 cab, they're solidly built and overall a good deal. Doesn't look like Musicians Friend carries them anymore.

Their cabs might as well be made of styrofoam.

Just be persistent in checking your craigslist and you'll eventually find a good deal on a 4x12.

are you on a huge budget? can you save a bit longer and hold off?

you dont want that cab man. a cab is something you can invest in and always have. if therei s one peice you probably shouldnt skimp on, its a cab.

its not as exciting as a pedal or guitar, but chances are you will change those far more than your cab. after years of use, you will look bakc and be glad you have your trusty ole quality cab.

...nothing is going to piss you off move than continuing to blow money on better and better cabs. do it right 1 time.

________

oh and consider a 2x12? i have a feeling that one day you might drop the 4x12 for a smaller cab. perhaps a cheap 4x12 really is the way to go?

i have a dream.... ..... .. where one day .... ... the average guitar player realizes what they have done.... and their girlfriend is bitching at them at this massive thing in the house.... and WE ALL GET CABS OF AVERAGE SIZE!!!!

(crickets?)

where do you all live? i know only 1 guitarist with a 4x12 the rest are bassists.

even the ones on tour as career musicians, most actually use SMALLER amps.
