Metal from a strat?

I've got a strat with an SSS route, but I like to play metal. are there any stacked/single coil sized humbuckers that aren't too pricey? I'd like something that's a little hotter, but with some low-end too.

Nope. Then no one would care about pickups.

What is "too pricey?" SD Hot Rails and JB Jr. and DiMarzio Fast Track and The Chopper come to mind.

I have the high gain amp, I just want the guitar to be a little hotter, I have a guitar with humbuckers and it does what I want. I just want the guitar to be a little hotter and less bright.

I'm thinking I wouldn't like to go very far from the 120-150 range for the set.
Those hot rails do look tempting though, and dave murray is one of my favorite guitarists.

I just droppped $850 on a JCM900 and a set of tubes a couple months ago, I think I'm set for a while.

Those are both full sized humbuckers.

EDIT: Withdrawn, I didn't see the S suffix.

Why not get a HSS strat?

Check under your pickguard - is it an SSS routing, or a swimming pool routing?

If it's the latter, you can put whatever you want in it and just get a new pickguard routed however you want for $20 tops.

It's in the OP, that was one of the first things I checked.

Oh, I misinterpreted. I read that just as it was an SSS Strat. My mistake.

So then, there are a few SC sized HBs out there. What sounds are you trying to get specifically? Bands/songs?

If you have the cash I really think the tone zone single coil sized humbucker is the best. For fattening up a strat. It's the one with rails. Awesome pickup

You could get a used Duncan Designed Hotrail version, seen plenty of them about and they go cheap.
