Caladan Brood

I never make threads these days, but here's something that justifies such unusual behaviour on my behalf.

Hark! Comparisons to Summoning are inevitable, but that's far from a bad thing when the music is of such great quality. I'll be damned if Echoes Of Battle isn't one of the best releases of the year.

Any band hoping to walk in the footsteps of the mighty Summoning would lose half their charm if they lacked crappy MIDI-instruments. Lo and behold, Caladan Brood deliver!

Strap on your shields
and raise your banners,
hear the call of raging battle.

Beneath a hail of burning arrows,
push ever forward, never surrender.

Helloween4ever, you'd like this.

You nailed it on the head, Kimmo. Great Summoning worship.

I was drawn here by the name, from the Malazan Chronicles right?

And "Book of the Fallen"

Love the tunes though.

Someone on HH showed me their new album, great stuff! Yeah, it's clearly very influenced by Summoning, but they've seamlessly incorporated more "rockish" parts at times as opposed to the strictly classical flair of the former band, so it's not as if this band doesn't have their own distinct voice. Always nice to hear good USBM

Music's all great but I got a bit of a problem with the vocals; the growls/screeches in particular.

I never was a big fan of bands like this...though I do like the 2nd song. A few light BM elements to it.

^ The above two posts are falses, clearly.

This is the next best thing to Summoning. A knockoff at times, but they have their own sound and are very good. Not quite as incredible as Summoning but almost.

Amazing band, almost as good as Summoning.
Even better if you've read the Malazan books, the atmosphere is perfect.

Nah

Make that thoroughly enjoyable.

It's amazing. Like it even more now than I did the first time, which is pretty impressive.
They sound more like Gallowbraid than Summoning I thought, the same vocals and guitar solo things, but I guess it's all the same sorta idea

You're not kidding. Caladan Brood sounds eerily similar, especially the clean chants.

heard about Caladan Brood on another forum and thought the music was quite good. I have to admit that I haven't listened to the music since sometime during the summer, and I mean to rectify that.
