Is this a good deal?

A Schecter ATX C-1 which retails at my local music store for $838, the hard shell case designed for the guitar and a set of EMG 81/60's . All this for $675. I know that it's definitely a good deal, but do you guys think it is an AMAZING deal? Like on a scale of 1 to 10, how good?

Is the guitar new or used?

I thought the ATX came stock with EMG's?

Go used and you can find one for <$400, Schecters have crap resale values so buying used is your best bet.

It is used. It comes stock with Seymour Duncan Blackouts, so I get both pairs.

That's cool, but I don't think that is a good deal, hear is just one example of a site to look at www.guitarcenter.com/used there are C-1 blackjack atx's for $470+ and that is GC

EDIT I guess with the case and EMG's it is not a horrible deal,

Nearly $700 for a used guitar that retails for $825, and happens to have an extra set of pickups. Pass.

It's not a deal, let alone a good deal. I'd give it a .5/10

EDIT: You can buy them new for $750. That's not a deal at all. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guit...electric-guitar

Ok, well guitar centre is an American website and it doesn't even look like they ship to Canada. Also after taxes the guitar would be $900 and he says the pickups were $250 new and the case was $150 new.

That's an awful deal. Schecters hold less resale value than a big black dildo in louisiana. Definitely pass, and dont you pay more than $500 for any kind of C-1.

It sounds like you're already set on that guitar no matter what we say, so why did you even ask?

The case is a moot point, any decent guitar should have a hardshell case with it. The pickups add around $80 to the value. So you're looking at top 1% market value of around $550, a realistic value of around $425. There's only been 2 used one that's sold on Ebay (showing how unpopular they are), one of which sold for $285 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Schecter-C-...=item417080dbb4

And the other for $399 (left handed) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Schecter-Di...=item20cf0ca0e0

I'm having trouble finding a Canadian music store that sells Schecter, but I'm not good at finding foreign music distributors. ZZsounds is currently blowing out that exact model for $539.45 new http://www.zzounds.com/item--SCEBJATXC1

Musicians Friend and Guitar Center both ship to Canada. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/page...ional-customers and they have a 15% promo code going right now. Which means you can order that guitar brand new for $630 plus shipping.

EDIT: Sam Ash has the 3 Tone Sunburst model new for $599, non Floyd Version. And they ship to Canada http://www.samash.com/p/Schecter_Bl...uitar_ 2001193

Tell him to re-install the original PUs and ditch the HSC; so, $675 - 250 - 150 = $275. Better deal. You're welcome.

I thought this was a really good deal.

$839 for the guitar
$250 for EMG pickups
$150 for hard shell case

= $1239 new

I'm getting it for $675. Sounds good to me. And all these online sites charge $100 shipping. One guy said a website is selling it new for about $550, but with the taxes and shipping its going to be what I'm paying except I get no pickups or case, so I don't see how you guys are hating the deal...

Look man, we are giving you our opinion. I have seen those guitars go much, MUCH cheaper, and I don't think the pickups are really an upgrade, more just a different taste. The HSC should come with any guitar, and max add 50$ to the deal if it is a really nice case.

You think it's a good deal great, but why the hell did you ask if you already were convinced? I know it's an awful deal and I definitely wouldn't do it, but apparently you think otherwise.

Well, I'm asking your reasoning. I think it is a decent deal but not axing because its no more than 50% off, but I don't see how it is awful considering the cost of it new compared to what I'd be paying used.

I don't base my judgement of something off its new price. The only thing I consider relevant is what the average price is of the item on the used market. I have never seen that guitar sell for anything over $500, and that was with case.

The market is flooded with Schecters, they are one of the most popular guitars among young players and there are a TON of them. I think that the seller is trying to spruce up the deal throwing in a set of pickups, but unless you happen to need an extra set of pickups, what is the point?

The cost of something new doesn't determine what it's worth used. The Marshall Mode Four is an excellent example of that, new they were around $1600. They're worth around $350 nowadays.

Just buy it and leave us alone. You'll see why it is a $300 guitar.
EDIT: If you're dead set on that exact guitar, buy it on eBay (for $300ish), buy a set of EMG's for $80, and pick yourself up a case for $50.

I think you should offer the seller more money. He's giving you a bargain, give him some extra money for his great deal.
