Difference is you have to deal with a bunch of buttons and menus with phones, computer, etc. You don't have to deal with that with guitars and amps (sorta)

Why does one have to obsolete the other?

When we got distortion, fuzz, and drive pedals, did 2 channel amps become obsolete?

While you guys argue about whether or not guitarists like going direct or not, and the sound differences, I'm going to enjoy my gear.

Even if I was to use a Kemper I'd still need a big power amp and a wall of speakers.

Still, even if a tofu steak tasted exactly like beef I'd buy the beef one.

i think its a reality. with amps like the kemper and AX FX, definitely a possiblity and its only going to get better and better.

soon an amp like the kemper will be 400 bucks and become the norm. if i could have a kemper and money was no object i would be all over it.

i think amps are easily going to become obsolete....cabs? different story. how do you put sound waves into the air any better than a 12 inch speaker?
