Is your budget flexible at all? You should get a 2 channel Dual Rectifier and a 6505+ or 5150 II - you could realistically get both of those amps for $1500 with some thrifty shopping, but you wouldn't be able to get a cab.

Otherwise, look at the 5150 III Mini. It would be a pretty good middle of the road option, I think.

As far as cabs go, any of the usual suspects will run you ~$500 (Mesa 412, Orange 412, Marshall 1960AV, Avatar 412)

EDIT: A 3ch Rectifier or a Roadster might also do just the trick, as long as you're okay with the fact that you're not going to get the 6505 Trivium sound out of anything but a 6505/5150. All these other options are great if you're okay with not nailing Trivium tone.

For the record the bugera 333 sounds almost nothing like the xxx/jsx and is a dreadful amp and should be avoided like the fat drunk at the end of a party.

Sure it wasnt the cheap-ass chinese tubes? I just have hard time figuring out how an amp that is almost 1:1 copy using cheap parts would sound that different from the original. But reliability, yeah....

Hmm... I guess I'm the only one who has a positive experience in regards to the Bugera 333.

Logically if his budget is higher, getting a "better" amp is hard to argue... but I've always felt if you can nail a specific tone with a cheaper piece of gear, then you have more money left over for other equipment upgrades.

The funny thing is, the 6505+ combo is chinese made and uses chinese tubes... in fact, it's probably made by the same factory that makes the bugera 333.

Yet the 6505+ combo gets recommended here quite often.

Who knows, maybe I'm missing something.

It's because 6505+ combos don't have a reputation for blowing up and catching on fire. They got the reputation not as a joke because it genuinely happened, I've been at more than one gig where one of the bands Bugeras die on stage, one of them was in sound check and he had to borrow a spare old Marshall MG the venue had stored in the back.

If you want to have to use a Marshall MG because your Bugera blows up on stage then sure go for it! They don't sound half bad, infact for the price those Bugera amps sound great, but you have to factor in the laughable reliability reputation they have built up.

There is no way in hell Peavey MIC amps are made in the same factory as Bugera's. There is an average at best ratio of MIC Peavey problems imo. I'm pretty sure the 6505+112, the Valveking and the Vypyrs are all made in the same factory. I've owned the VK and the Vypyr.

It is fine to hear the good too on the Bugeras. I personally like their V22. But I've got a list a mile lone of UG'r threads having issues with their Bugera. A couple of years ago it was kind of funny and a popular joke to pick on people with a Bugera problem but now, due to the severity of the issue, it is just not funny any more.

I for one will not tolerate anyone poking fun at Bugera and will report them immediately.

Hah, well I must admit... if they're prone to exploding into flames whilst being played on stage, then please, allow me to remove this amplifier line from my previously made suggestions.

Bugera has their own factory... They can control their QC as they own it. It's not a pain in the ass contract out to some random Chinese plant.

What I am saying is they chose not to control it, or at least slow to fix it.

I have had a 333 for 4 yrs now and I have had small problems when compared to others. But I would not gig with out a backup amp.

Bugeras do sound good, but build quality is shoddy at best. Now the 333 sits buried in my closet because I can not sell it at all. $250 for a tube amp with brand new tubes and still no one
