AC30 clones for under $800.

There's gotta be someone out there. I'm open to a 1x12 or a Twin. Anyone know any? My google-fu is failing me. All I've found is Ceriatone and ValveTech.

direct clone or something fairly close? I got my genz benz black pearl for less than that (new) as they've been discontinued- but it's not a direct clone, it's more "ac30-ish". EDIT: I should also point out that the first one i got was faulty, and I wasn't the only one having problems (a store here got a job lot of them and was blowing them out, there was a big thread on musicradar about them).

yeah I saw one in a store recently but they wanted $1200+ for it. I'm not a fan of the genz-benz guitar stuff at all

There is the Bugera BC-30

I think you're underestimating the used price. I rarely see them hit my price-range on ebay. Local they go for even more...

Save your money then dude. If a real AC30 tone is what you're after, then this is your most viable option. If you settle for anything less, assuming you know the AC30 sound is what you want, you will be unhappy and waste your time.

Oh, I'm not looking for an exact replica. I'm trying to ideas so I can compare around and see which one like an AC30 I like best.

Good call. Gotta find out what the C2 and all that stuff means. Time to do some research!

^ i think the c2 is the newer, less sought-after/more cheaped-out version. I haven't tried it, though.

(a) yeah I mean $1200 is a lot considering they've been discontinued- i got mine for a little more than half that. and mine's the 2x12 combo- heavy as all get out but those alnico speakers are expensive! I got mine for little more than the retail cost of the two speakers here For what I paid, though, I like it. It took a little tweaking, and I wasn't sure for the first little while, but I do like it now. No way I'd have paid anywhere near full price, though.

I had the el diablo, too, but I didn't much like it- which is weird, I really liked it when i tried it in a shop ages ago Also wasn't fussed on the reliability as it also died (may have just been a valve dying, but i was seriously considering sending it back anyway as i didn't like it, so I sorta took that as a sign. The more I tweaked it, the more I liked it, but at the same time I wasn't going to get a replacement sent out on the offchance I liked it enough to keep it if I tweaked it more...

Thanks for the leads and reply, dudes. I think I'm just going to bank the cash for now and save up for some Matchless or Dr. Z goodness.

The Peavey Classic series is modelled after AC30's. The Classic 30 is a 1x12 and the Classic 50 is a 2x12.

Probably the best you can get at that budget otherwise you'd be looking at Matchless. But if you aren't gigging and don't need too much clean headroom then just go for an AC15.

http://www.peavey.com/products/inde...Series%E2%84%A2

The Laney VC30 is probably another option too, although if I had to choose, from most preferred to least preferred it'd be:

AC30 > AC15 > Classic 50 > VC30

Cheers.
