"Amp in a box" pedal for modern sound?

For a Modern type of sound, a heavy hi-gain distortion without being too extreme or saturated (not for metal), which pedal would suit the best?
I want a pedalboard that can handle any amp in a live situation (instead of having to haul amps every time I play)

I've looked at many, such as the Wampler Pinnacle, the Suhr Riot, Plexitone.. But where I live those are extremely overpriced compared to the states.. I can afford one of those, but only if it's the best option... I've also looked at cheaper pedals such as the Hardwire Valve Distortion

List your budget, where you live and what type of bands you would like to sound similar too.... Everyone has a different idea of heavy high gain...

IMO You'd be a lot better off with a DSP like the Line 6 POD HD500, just run that straight into the PA or the return of an amp. You'll get much more consistent and good sounding results than trying to run a really nice pedal into what will most likely be a POS amp.

Blackstar HT-Dist or Distx. True valve driven pedals for an affordable price. They sound incredible!

Build a Dr. Boogey (gaussmarkov).
That way you can make sure that it's well-built, with good components and reliable wiring.
When biased properly, it sounds amazing. Honestly, the FETs are a bit of a PITA to bias, but i learned a technique that works like a charm, and i can post it here if you're interested.

Here's the one i designed and built for myself:

Look at the AMT electronics Legend series 2 or the Drive series pedals. They have mesa,Marshall,VHT/Fryette,Soldano,Peavey,Engl,Krank and more all amps in a pedal.

They sound pretty good also.

Thank you both for the kind words.

I designed the graphics and overall aesthetics of the pedal, and biased the FETs myself.
The rest was built with the help of two good friends. One did the wiring, the other painted and finished the enclosure.
We wanted to make it the best we could in all departments.

I designed the graphics on Photoshop as close as i could to the original Mesa Dual Rectifier visual (if you notice, even the order of the knobs is the same, but in a 1x6 row instead of 2x3), then it was printed on adhesive vinyl, applied on the painted enclosure, and ended with clearcoat to protect it.

If you want to check the build, here's the thread i made about it while we were doing it:

I tried the Hardwire Valve Distortion, found it to be a can of bees. I'd take a look at the JHS Pedals Angry Charlie and Wampler Plextortion.
