Metal in 2020, what is your vision?

1: What is big right now in metal, and what of the new stuff do you think will grow?

2 : How is your outlook for the metal genre for the next 7 years?

3 : What is your view on the development of music in general ?

Share your perspective!

Benefits :

More clarity on the needs of the audience/society
Inspiration to own playing by getting new suggestions
Helpful if you are working on a carrier on music
Helpful in defining your own style

Tr00 Metal will stay the same, just as it always has.

Mainstream metal will continue to modulate yet retain it's intrinsic pop basis.

Not much is gonna change really.

Is that a prediction or a comment on Altar of Plagues?

A prediction... I like AoP, White Tomb may be one of my favourite Metal Albums.

I foresee Black Metal with pop sensibilities and breakdowns

I mean I think it's the only Metal genre that hasn't been bastardized yet.

Don't be silly, it's been dragged through the mud many a time. And we do have some rather devastating black metal/hardcore hybrids already:

Mark my words, you'll end up with Black Metal with constant Trance Synths and clean vocals soon enough.

I honestly didn't find anything too offensive about that Celeste song ... was I meant to?

No not at all, I absolutely love it. Just pointing out that it exists!

Well I know that Hardcore/BM cross over existed. Crust Punk being the obvious bridging point between the two. Though I must admit the closest I've gotten to listening to Black Metal inspired Hardcore is Trap Them. I might have to check out more.

I more meant I expect by 2020 we'll of seen the Bring Me The Horizon of Black Metal bands.

As long as there are bands with integrity, everything else is trivial.

'New things' rarely are. There is a cyclic nature to history generally, and music, and Metal in particular, is not immune to this process. The regurgitation of old ideas, often mixed together in 'different' and 'interesting' ways, is always part of it.

Also, your initial post seemed largely correct.
