Using the word "or" does not stop this being a "vs" thread.

Guns n Roses, yes Slash is overated but Axl and Izzy are two of the best songwriters in rock music. I'd like to like Motley Crue so I bought their debut album which fans of theirs have told me is their best album and there was not one good song on there.

^ lol who cares man, he wants to know what you think about these bands

I never listened to enough MC to say I enjoy them more than GnR, so I cant say my fav is GnR. However, GnR have a generally strong arsenal of killer tunes

^This, even songs which would be considered "filler" for GNR, they are better than most rock songs, and one thing about liking GnR is that if your just starting to get into them you only listen to songs like WTTJ, SCOM, Paradise City etc, but then you buy the albums and you discover gems like Dont Damn Me, Get in the Ring, Locomotive, the list goes on.

Threads like this are banned.

At the end of the day, both bands are good, both are in my all time top five, whether you like one of them more than the other is irrelevant to everyone except you.

Guns n Roses because they had the best selling debut album of all time [Appetite for Destruction]. Plus Slash and Izzy were a killer combo onstage. If Slash played a lick, izzy would naturally play it differently which added a different layer to the mix. Plus slash is a better all around player in terms of playing abilitites, effects use, songwriting, writing solos, and live performances.

G'N'R are awesome, but i still prefer Motley Crue, especially their earlier work( Shout At The Devil, Theatre Of Pain, Girs, Girls, Girls).

No question that Motley is the better band. Way better.

GnR was a good band, but unfortunately, the magic of that original lineup was over as quick as it began. I just read Duffs book and the way he tells it, by 1989, the magic was gone. Izzy was basically out of the band, he wrote a few of the songs on UYI, but he was trying to recover from heroin. Steven was a crackhead, about to get fired. It would take 5 more years for it to all really fall apart. It will never come together again.

Motley on the other hand, they have had their share of shakeups, but those guys are the definition of Rock Stars, in every respect. You cant argue with 30+ years of sold out arenas.

Much love and respect to both bands. Both in my personal top 5. I usually keep a guitar tuned to E flat just so I can jam some GnR when I get the chance.

I always have a guitar tuned down to D standard though. For those Motley Crue moments, which happen more often.

Oh, and Mick Mars is a fxcking BEAST! I dare say he is much better than Slash. I bet Slash would agree, too.

I like GnR, but I've always been a bigger Motley fan. But both bands are completely different. I just prefer Motley's style more.

PS. 5_Years_Dead, nice Motley reference

Guns and crue both are very mediocre bands, one of the most important bands of that era was Skid Row, some how nobody seem to notice them...
