Stole a bunch from the earlier posts because I just realized they're true.

1) The hardest song I can play fully is Premonition by Joe Satriani. This has been my hardest song for a very long time.

2) I still take a very long time to identify any note on the fretboard, other than the first 2 strings on the first 5 frets. I'm now trying to remedy that.

3) If you don't even know basic music theory (what is a key, key signature, etc), you shouldn't be allowed to play the guitar.

4) I think I'm the best musician out of my circle of friends, but I recognize I'm maybe only half-decent.

5) My best composition to date is incomplete, features a half-tone modulation up just because I can't think of what to do, and you can totally hear the opening of Colony of Birchmen by Mastodon in the main riff.

1. i think 99% of all metal guitarists don't know how to properly setup their guitar-amp (incl. equalizers)

2. whoever doesn't has a basic understanding of musical theory shouldn't be allowed to play any instrument

3. i think joe satriani is overrated

4. i suck at guitar, even though i've been practicing for almost 10 years

5. girls playing a guitar aren't even remotly sexy

5. I lost my motivation and spirit for music two years ago when my band split, and as a result I'm actually not as good now 7 years into playing as I was 3 or 4 years into playing
4. During that time I bought 3 new instruments, a good acoustic to replace my crap one, a five string bass, and a seven string guitar, costing me about $1800 in a failed attempt to reenergize myself.
3. I am way more interested in writing soundtrack music than the prog metal I'm used to writing, but I get intimidated trying to put any kind of serious effort into anything but metal anyway.
2. I've started recording my album over from scratch more times than I can remember because I get halfway through it and realize it sounds like crap.
1. I think I would get back into the spirit of creating music if I actually finished that album and moved on with my life.

EDIT: Wow, that was one gigantic horrific typo in number 5. Fixed.

Maybe you should just roll with your interests as they are now, dig deep into soundtracks, and keep looking forward on it, if you keep on comparing things now to how they were 3 or 4 years ago, it won't help.

I find music unimportant. I still enjoy it but it's also just whatever. Trivial and silly. People who dedicate themselves entirely to music are silly.

Even though I've been a big fan of guitar driven music for the entirety of my life, I never would have picked up the guitar, nor had an interest in doing so, if I hadn't played guitar hero.

Well, this time the recording process for my album is actually going really well. The two biggest issues I've had with recording were always 1) A recording latency, so subtle that I wouldn't actually notice it was slightly off until I had multiple instruments recorded, and 2) Figuring out how to get better tones in the middle of recording. I fixed the first problem by using a better computer, and I fixed the second problem by discovering GuitarRig so I don't have to touch the tones until I'm done recording. This time it should actually get finished, and then I can move on to my new goals that have been put off.

1. Guitar Hero secretly inspired me to start playing guitar
2. I can't play a single song completely correctly...instead I over complicate it with riffs I know/feel comfortable with and change it and call it "my own" rendition.
3. I hate Johnny Cash, and nearly all forms of metal after the year 1987.
4. I play on a guitar that costs $80 but the rest of my rig costs over 9000 (a joke but really not at the same time).
5. As cliche as Stairway to Heaven is, I have a ridiculously complicated rendition that I've developed over years that I never play for anyone except myself because of the cliche... I also feel bad playing it...

Edit: had to add some more after reading some comments:
6. Hardest song I can play is Eugene's bag trick from crossroads film or maybe Cliffs of Dover (although I can never get the one part with alternate picking in the solo quite right unless I'm on X.)
7. I can read music, but I expressly choose not to because it takes more time, and I'd rather make up my own noteset as I go...although I'll still follow a chord-based score. Also I can't read chords as individual notes. Give me that shit that says GMaj7add9 with four dashes on the measures instead of the notes for that chord all stacked and confusing
8. Joshua Garcia, I've seen your youtube shit. Get some emotion in dat shit...eventhough I'm nowhere near as good as you on a technical level. But Joshua Garcias w/ Tom Hess and Erection Lord Tom Pollock Jr.: Sucks (I'm referring to the GWBush letter thread incase this isn't ringing in yo brain).
9. My musical tastes probably don't coincide with any of you, although I still comment on the musicianship of bands you guys like because I used to listen to them when I was 14 and still have a photographic memory.
10. agree with luvs2gro. Jam bands are the shit, but only live.
also 11. I only post on here when I'm plastered drunk. almost anything I say can be taken as total BS. I just have nothing better to do as I'm unemployed atm.

I don't blame you, they've been around forever and haven't even released an album yet.

But....why would this matter? it's like 2 different instruments harmonizing on a chord which happens in...well....90% of every song in existence.

I'm sorry that this drives you crazy, but maybe you should listen as if they were two different instruments rather then they should be the same and therefore sound like an overdub rather than two different musicians playing a harmony together.

incase unclear: you should listen to it like the way I put the second option in the final statement...wow...too many IPAs tonight...
