Looking for a nice 2x12 cab

I am looking for a nice 2x12 cab to use with my peavey 6505+ 112 combo.

My budget is 380/$530.

My style is metal sort of devildriver/threat signal.
I dont use much cleans.
I play in drop C/ D standard

I have been looking at these

Orange 212 open back
Orange jim root 212
Harley Benton 212 vintage
Bugera 212vbk
EVH 212

any opininons welcome

Get the Orange, I have it and it sounds really good. I play Alternative, Metal and Jazz/Funk and it works great for any of those genres. But MAYBE a closed back will suit you better if yo need thight bass (which I don't).

well orange would give a very full sound...

i would advise against the bugera. ive used one. it does the job, but it pales compared to a quality cab. it sounds a bit thin.

Can't go wrong with the Orange cab! They're definitely top notch - And definitely go with one over a Bugera - A quality cab is what brings an amp to life.

What are your opinions on the EVH 2x12 cab and the laney Lionheart 2x12 that are other options ive been considering,

i had a laney 412 with celestion 70 something speakers in for years and really like the sound of my 6505 head through it thats why ive looked at the laney

tbh im lead towards the ornage, it has everthing i want except its open back but i supposed i could maybe block it off

I have been looking at other sites about the open back orange and i think that i would need something more punchy and tight.

obviously the harly benton is the best deal but are there any other 2x12 cabs you would advise me to look at

Carvin makes very solid cabs, and can be ordered with V30s for extra. You can get a 2x12 for $300 or $390 with V30s. Seems like a deal to me. http://www.carvinguitars.com/products/212V

Edit: Also, I think they can be ordered in open or closed back.

There is a Framus 2x12 but honestly you might aswell just get the Harley benton as it has the same speakers and you'll just be paying more for the name and the wood if you buy orange or framus.

If you're from the UK get the Harley benton, if you're from the US get a Carvin

Closed-back is really the only way to go for high gain, unless you enjoy a loose lowend and less projection.

Out of the ones you've listed the only ones I'd consider are the Harley Benton and the EVH.

The Orange open back will be too loose for metal, the Orange Jim Root is smaller than the normal 2x12 and has inferior speakers in it. The Harley Benton is supposedly a great budget cab, I mean... you really can't beat what you get for the price on that thing, but I'm sure it's not as sturdy as the UK-made Orange. The Bugera just stay away from, those speakers are crap and Bugera isn't exactly known for their stunning build quality The EVH is a lower wattage cab than the Harley Benton, so be aware that if you upgrade to a higher wattage head, you risk blowing the speakers, since the cab is only rated at 60w (which is interesting, because the specs of the speakers say they're rated at 20w each...). That being said, those Celestions in the EVH cabs sound ****ing awesome, though if you're looking for the typical metal sound with Vintage 30s, you're not going to get it with the G12 EVH speakers.

Except by the time he factors in the cost of shipping to the UK, he'll be well over the price of just buying one of the cabs he listed, locally.

well ive done it and ordered 2 harley benton 2x12 cabs, i figure that if i do a bigger gig i can take wo with me, whats useful for me is that even with two cabs plugged in a can still use the record out to send a signal to the desk aswell as have two cabs going on stage, think this would be quite fun as i wont have to deal with crappy monitors/engineers

Two 2x12s? If you're going to keep them together anyway, why not just get one 4x12?

He didn't say he was going to keep them together...

Small gig: 1 cab.

Big gig: 2 cabs, 1 either side of the stage. MASSIVE SOUND!!!

I don't see where it says one per side, but that's not a bad idea.
