Questions about Traynor YGA-1 and attenuators

Hey folks.

I've stumbled on a Traynor YGA-1 1967 45 watts Signature for cheap and since the Fender Bassman is my dream amp, I'm considering getting it as it's basically a Bassman clone (for a mere few 100s bucks). Am I right? Also, after some research, reviews are positive (many really positive) but I'd still like to hear your opinion on it!

Secondly, I wouldn't be able to use it while at my flat because of its volume, so I'm considering getting an attenuator for it. How do those work, exactly? Is it foolish to hope to achieve bedroom levels (or slightly louder) with this amp and an attenuator? Or possibly good headphone sound (Weber attenuator with the headphone tap for example)?

Thanks for the help!

Attenuators aren't meant to tame down to bedroom levels - they are meant for making an amps overbearing volume bearable - and/or for additional tonal options.

You'd be better off with a master volume mod.

Perfectly put. Attenuators don't make loud amps quiet, they make very loud amps loud.

A better option would be very low- or variable-sensitivity speakers (like the Eminence FDM series).

Or just get some type of modelling (hardware or software) to get the cranked Bassman tones you want at any volume level.
