"wah wave"

Hi , I have one question about the song "Don't Rain on My Firewood" by Paul Gilbert - at the very beginning, did he use the wah or some kind of tremolo effect? Cause
it sounds like a single note with a wah rocked back and forth (high E
maybe, dont know the fret?) plus something extra added on top of it. I like the effect - it is like a "wah wave", similar to Satriani's "Love thing" for example.
