Blue bending technique?

Hey guys I have just started playing guitar last year and things are going quite well, but there is this little lick that I never seem to understand how to do it right. It's the lick at the end of the solo of Symphony of Destruction, and it's kinda weird to me that I can do the Tornado of Souls solo quite well but not this little solo Can anyone give me advice as to how to practice this lick and what is the name of this lick please? Thanks so much
Link to the solo: Symphony of Destruction Solo
The lick is at 0:29

Itīs hard to give you advice when you are being so vague about your problems. Chances are that your bending technique needs some focus, which would also mean that you can not play the tornado of souls solo quite well btw. Playing these solos well with decent phrasing is not that easy, donīt underestimate them.
Itīs a heavy duty blues lick involving some bending, legato and a double stop at the end. You practice it as everything else. Slow it down maybe work on specific problems in separate exercises, increase speed. When bendings are involved using your ear and being very rigorous about correct pitch is instrumental.

Thanks for the reply though somehow I didn't have problem whatsoever with the bending at the end of tornado of souls My problem is more about the continuous bending stuff, there is a little delay between each bend-and-release sequence If I practice it from slow to fast could I solve that problem out? Or do I just need the right way to practice ?

It kind of sounds like your problem is of rhythmical nature, if you donīt know exactly when and how to play each note slow practice obv wonīt solve the problem. So make sure to figure that out, by transcribing yourself or using tabs.

I just mentioned the because the odds of you being able to play said solo "well" after just 1+- year of playing are very slim to none..

Well ... I just said what is true I didn't try to brag that I'm a genius, otherwise I wouldn't be posting a thread asking how to play a solo right?

^ Wow, that cover was actually way better than I expected it to be. Of course it has mistakes, but damn... you kept up and it really sounded like the solo from Tornado of Souls.

You've just motivated me to take on that solo again, congratulations. At least these days I can actually do the sweeps and the taps...

I have to admit that it was impressive for someone who has been playing 7-8 months, but on the other hand there's still room for alot of improvement.

Definitely, but at the same time there's always room for improvement!

In this case TS, I would recommend working on your bends and legato the most; the beginning of that solo really tells me that most of your practice is spent on shred techniques. Makes sense why Symphony of Destruction is hard for you if you think of it that way.

Just try and balance yourself out by putting more focus on "slow" techniques like bends- things like bends and vibrato are very important lead techniques in any context. Fast game + slow game = the best game.

What is legato I'm self-taught so don't have much ideas about name of techniques and stuff. Thanks a lot though, definitely Marty's bendings are crazy

What is legato? I'm pretty sure the word itself is Italian for "smooth", but in this context legato is when you play different notes without picking every note. At 0:06 of your Tornado of Souls solo, you do slides which is a legato technique for your reference.

It's a fairly broad term really, but legato is just playing notes with no pause between them. Hammer-ons and pull-offs are also considered legato.

I'm getting an eerie feeling that I'm wrong about something, so I'm just going to post a link to a Wikipedia article which explains it better than I can:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legato

EDIT: It's not really relevant, but if you really like Marty Friedman's playing you should check out the band Cacophony- if you haven't already. Their first album, Speed Metal Symphony, is amazing and ends with possibly the best '80s metal instrumental I have ever heard. The two guitarists in Cacophony are Jason Becker and Marty Friedman- they both frequently show up on "best guitarists ever" lists.

I'd almost recommend Marty's Dragon Kiss from 1989, but the only good song IMO is forbidden city. Check that out, too.
