The Ashes 2013

The first test takes place in 3 days time.

Will Australia win anything other than the 2am bar room brawls?

GREATEST ASHES WIN EVER

Hopefully the weather holds and it's a nice easy 5-0 to England (probably end up being 3-1 though)

Outside of Starc none of the Aussie bowlers are worth worrying about and Michael Clarke & Shane Watson (when he can be bothered) are the only real world class batsmen that they have.

I like that you wrote that in Union Jack colours.

As an England fan, I'm actually a bit worried. We're comfortable being the underdog, with not much expected of us. That's the way we've been used to it, and the last few years of being decent doesn't quite usurp that feeling, especially going into an Ashes series.

So with England being the stronger side on paper, I'm both excited and nervous. Excited at the prospect of giving the old enemy a damn good thrashing, but nervous that England will find a way to throw it away. I can never be confident with them. They're too good at screwing up!

Interesting that they've dumped Compton. I'm a bit in two minds about it. When Strauss retired I was in favour of bringing in Root as Cook's opening partner, but Compton's done what they asked of him in going back to county cricket and scoring a heap of runs as well as performing in the tour matches. And I can't help but feel that Australia will be a bit happier knowing that they have to bowl at Bairstow. He's got potential certainly, but I've not seen much that makes me want to have him in my test side just yet.

But then I'm a little happier at seeing what England need to bowl at. Clarke is world class, of course. Watson's dangerous when he's on form. I admit that Rogers is a bit of an unknown quantity to me, but his experience should help and I think it was a wise move to bring Haddin back in. But I can't help but see the rest of the Aussie batsmen as walking wickets. And that's a notion that I like.

Bairstow & Root bring that gritty Yorkshire toughness etc to the side

Another thing with Bairstow is he's a bloody good fielder and an emergency stumper if Prior happens to get hurt at any point during a game.

There could also be a scenario that if conditions suit his selection ahead of Finn & Onions, Bresnan being included gives England batters right down to 10 in the lineup because Swann & Broad are no slouches with the bat.

The Lions aren't the best team in the world. There's this team from a little country called New Zealand

Also I have tickets to the Boxing Day test at the MCG. Hopefully they win there like they did last time so I can get hammered in my Lions top for ultimate bragging and fight starting
