1. You're not asking/describing the right question. Amp has distortion but you say it doesn't, but need a pedal for distortion. If the amp doesn't, neither will a distortion pedal....

2. You're a troll. Amp has lead channel with gain but you say it doesn't have distortion. The other amp must be modded.......

3. You're Completely and utterly clueless. Amp has lead channel with gain but you say it doesn't have distortion. The other amp must be modded.......

Are you sure you're not the guy in the youtube comments for the vid saying he can't figure out how to get anything other than clean? "How the hell do i set this thing to metal? All i can get out of it is clean. Im going insane"

By the way, yes, I am a douche.

I said the amp doesn't have a distortion, it has overdrive but it's shitty as f*ck. I had a boss metal core, but it broke, so I'm looking for something else. And I found Zoom Tri metal! And no, I'm not the guy who left that comment on Youtube.

Show us a picture of your settings. It might be a small switch you forgot to switch or something.

Your amp is absolutely capable of that sound, unless something is wrong on your settings, or something inside the amp is actually broken.

Yeah. Switch to lead channel, turn the Pre-gain (AKA just Gain in most amps) really high and post-gain (AKA volume in every single other amp. Such a stupid name they chose...) low to keep your ears intact, and switch the voicing to either on high-gain or modern if you prefer scooped tone. If it doesnt distort like mother****er there is something wrong in your Envoy. It may not sound good but the amount of gain available is easily on the modern-metal levels.

The amp in the video is exactly the same amp as you have. The amp in the video may be older generation but the newest one has exactly the same features. And it's not modded if MaaZeus could get high gain tones out of his amp too. I think it would say in the video if the amp was modded.

Yes, tell us your settings. Did you switch it to the lead channel? Did you try different voicings? Did you adjust pre gain? Did you try different EQ settings. Post a video of you playing through the amp and trying different settings. Or at least a picture of your front panel.

Answer all questions I asked in this post!!

Well, this thread is pointless. You've made no real effort. Go buy a Digitech Metal Master or something.

Well, if you are hellbent on getting a distortion pedal, the Metal Muff or Digitech Hardwire metal pedal have gotten some good word as far as cheaper distortion pedals go, look into those. But if they really make your Envoy sound better as far as its shitty speaker allows, I bet there is something odd going on in the lead channel of your amp.

Joyo Pocket Metal.

It has a handy mids knob that let you scoop 'em as much as you want to.

It also goes for $35.

Buullshiiit! Turn that sucker near max for some Swedish Deathmetal goodness.

But yeah, as much as I like HM2 I doubt its what TS is looking for his distortion needs.

I just bought a Line 6 POD XT for $66 used. get one and you will have a very nice practice tool with a bunch of amp,cab and FX models that sound pretty good. You can use headphones or run it on your clean channel or FX loop (if your amp has one)

I would still recommend TS to learn to use his amp. I'm sure he didn't even try the lead channel. Or then he mixed pre and post gain knobs or something. Or then there's something wrong with his amp. Can't tell without pictures or video.

No, you're wrong. I tried the lead channel and I also tried the settings that i've seen on videos but the tone is still shitty. Maybe my amp has a problem, i dunno

I didn't bother.

He's just gonna say something stupid or dodge the question entirely.

Does it really matter? Even the weakest single coils aren't going to make the Peavey Transtube's gain disappear like OP is describing.

I know this won't change your mind, but I've tried running different distortion pedals through my Roland Cube. None of them sound any better than the amp's built in distortion. I'd only suggest a distortion pedal if you had a clean based amp (that sounds good) like some sort of Fender, and there wasn't a way to overdrive the signal to get the amount of distortion necessary.
