Also, my list:

Cauchemar - Tenebrario: Incredibly solid release, cheers Stranglehold for showing me them. Definitely worth the 7 bucks on bandcamp.

Caladan Brood - Echoes of Battle: Awesome, total Summoning worship and nothing wrong with that.

Albums that are great, but haven't listened to enough to form a solid opinion:

October Falls - The Plauge of a Coming Age: I've listened to this once so far, and I really dig it. I'll need to check it out more, however.

Summoning - Old Morning's Dawn: I know, you'd think I would be the first to listen to this one, but I haven't listened to it more than once, for the sole reason of not having the time to actually get it on my ipod.

Atlantean Kodex - The White Goddess: Not out yet, but judging by Sol Invictus, will be AOTY for me.

Nokturnal Mortum - Істина: Will be amazing, similar to TWG.

Looking back on this list, I haven't listened to a whole ton from 2013. Will have to, once the "best" ones are out.

So, the new Gorguts has... Well, you know. Needless to say, it is absolutely astounding. If you liked Forgotten Arrows and An Ocean of Wisdom, you will not be disappointed! This is definitely a contender of AOTY for me so far. 2013 has definitely been a great fukking year for metal.

Edit-If I have time later on today, I am going to list all of the albums mentioned so far in the first post. This way it will be easier for those of us who have not listened to everything posted yet to keep track of what is happening this year.

EPs that tickled my fancy:

show

Looking forward to new Vasaeleth, and I haven't heard Jex Thoth's Circles either. Sutekh Hexen haven't listened to yet either.

Forgot to mention Thou Art Lord was a neat full length.

I second the October Falls release. Really good shit.

God, this year has been chocked full of nothing but good releases. Haven't heard the new Gorguts, but I can imagine it's good.

A few bands releases that went under my radar were Apolion's Genocide and Lord Ryur compilations, which feature new tracks from each band. Definitely get on those!

Listening to Anarchic right now...

2013, officially, has too much good music, and it's only half over.

When is this meant to be out? I heard the announcement but no other details that I can recall. The first full-length was great, so I'm very curious about this release

Okay, I edited the first post with all of the LPs and EPs mentioned so far, excluding some of the stuff you all designated as non metal releases. If you notice any mistakes, or you want me to include something else, let me know. If I have time, and I am feeling up to it, I will go back and either alphabetize the albums, or I will separate by genre. Or I will do both. We shall see.

P.S. Stop listening to so much music Severed, you ass!

Nobody laughed at my Stranglehold or Duncang jokes; I thought they were funny.

If I can be bothered later I might alphabetise and split into genres for you, just to make it more digestible as a list.

Sometime at the end of next month if I remember correctly. I've always thought Vasaeleth were better in small bursts, which is why I find their splits and demos to be absolutely some of my favourites.

Take solace in knowing there is someone who finds it funny who just doesn't post, or might not even exist.

--------------------------------------------------------

I might do some demos in a bit, as I've only got time and there are a few that are pretty neat.

If you want to do it Slate (your new name), I would appreciate it, but don't feel obligated to do it. I'll get around to it either later today, or sometime this week.

I've made a start. It'll either be done by tonight or tomorrow.

I'm relying on metal archives for genres of bands I don't know (and listening to which element is more prominant for those who straddle genres), so I'll post the list first and let everyone make suggestions for bands being moved if needs be.

I'll do it as well and we can see who gets done first.

BEGIN THE RACE!

Ensemble Pearl (drone rock/exp. rock)
Vag's Disposal (hnw)
the new boris (sludge, atmosludge)

Dammit guys, now I have to choose one of the lists and hurt your feelings! They both look good though; I'll decide later. Slate has the advantage though, because he was first.

I don't mind, there's probably a half way point that's right, as we've both categorised a few albums differently.

But I don't mind, which ever you/everyone thinks is more accurate.
