Can someone explain the Floyd rose? There's like 3 different tunes for it or something? (According to Wikipedia)

I like playing with anything string. I'll happily take apart a fishing pole reel and put it back together. Not saying it's the same or anything, but I like taking string things apart to see how they work.

3 different tunes for it? Do you have a link to that wikipedia article?

Basic gist of a floyd rose is you counteract the tension of the springs with the tension of the guitar strings. And the strings are locked at both the bridge and nut so that (in theory, at least) tuning is very stable even with extreme tremolo bar abuse.

This one. Under principles, there's three positions. That's what confused me.

Me = noob

oh ok. that's just describing how it works.

position 1 is the way it should be when you're not using the tremolo. i.e. level with the guitar's body.

when you dive with the bar, it looks like position 2.

When you pull up with the bar (assuming the floyd is set to float), it looks like position 3.
