Anyone else think Saturate is a great album?

The vocalist is easy to understand, uses his voice in many clever ways. The riffs and rhythms are all incredibly tight. The songs seem to flow and build musically instead of abrupt changes.

My last thread was closed, not sure why, but I didn't get any good responses of similar albums to check out. I've been away from metal for probably 20 years, but did manage to check out this album by Breaking Benjamin and was just hoping there were others like it out there.

I'm not really interested in hearing bashing of Breaking Benjamin, just mainly opinions of someone who also might like them. thanks

There's a very good reason why the other thread was closed. Actually there are quite a few good reasons.

I'll check the forum rules I guess and see if I can spot anything.

*edit I didn't see anything in the Chat FAQ, New Users FAQ, or "The Pit' Rules.

Unless perhaps it could be a considered a "versus' thread by citing specific examples of my favorite albums.

But if that was the case, I should have gotten a warning. I got nothing.

This is the metal forum. Why are you looking at any of those things?

The singer sounds like a girl and they guitarists are playing tele's. Thanks, I don't mean to sound rude, but is it possible for people ----who do like--- Breaking Benjaming to reply

Three days grace's self titled? The first Evans blue album? This should be in the modern rock forum since, ya know, BB isn't a Metal band.

No way! not metal? I don't believe it. There is a incredible raw energy on that album. I just watched a youtube video. I didn't know that the guitarist was also the singer/songwriter. That explains why everything is so tight.

Threes days grace is awesome. Got any more like this?

Evan's blue is kinda lame. The singer is the weak point. Actually all the instruments sounded weak and unispired.

You should probably look into what constitutes different genres because what I heard was closer to hard rock.

Then why did you get upset when someone said it wasn't metal?

I forgot how broad the classification has become. Last I checked Bryan Adams was modern rock.

The album doesn't sound anything like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica(Not the '90's Metallica), Morbid Angel, Darkthrone, Falkenbach, Nightwish, Dream Theater, or Neurosis. It sounds more like Social Distortion, Bush, or even Nirvana.

What did you listen to of Evans Blue? Everything after the 2nd album is piss poor.

Chevelle, CKY, Janus, Egypt, 10 Years, A Perfect Circle, Crossfade, Hurt, Trapt, Karnivool, and Tallman. I strongly suggest you listen to at least some material from each album since these bands have had enough time to release shit material or change their sound a lot.

the first album like you said. " The Melody and the Energetic Nature of Volume"

I would say that Evan's Blue, 10 Years, crossfade, Janus, A perfect Circle, Trapt, and Karnivool all used the same singer? Lack of rasp, bordering on mickey mouse at times.
Cky seemed interesting, but bordered on queer and completly lacked heavy rhythms.
Hurt was kinda slow, drawn out.
Crossafde had good songs, background vocals. The vocals seemed lacking though.
Chevelle had moments where it shined, but again the singer seems like mickey mouse on the verses and then screams abrasively on the chorus with random whispers sprinkled in.
Tallman - only able to find mechanism album. Good sound. Long ways to go before their songs find commercial success.
Egypt, you mean Egypt Central? = awesome! any more like this?

I would rate Saturate's vocal performance on par with Piece of Mind.

Saturated and Master of Puppets are two very different albums. One of them is basically just a collection of radio-friendly pop rock songs and the other one is Saturated, so there you go.

There's more to music than just the vocals...

If you want the same vocals as Saturate just listen to more Breaking Benjamin. I think the last band I could possibly recommend you is Fightstar.
