SD Pearly Gates

Hey Folks,

Heard one of these in the bridge position of a Big Apple Strat. I know they are bright but the SD website says they work well with a bright guitar. I spoke to a sakes guy today and mentioned that I had an Alder body strat style, all maple neck guitar that can be ice picky bright. Some people have said these pickups are bright but in a less harsh way. The sales guy agreed. Does anyone have any experience with these in the bridge position in a similar guitar? I know Strats are usually bright, but I know nothing about the big apple Strats.

Nothing about the big apple strat should make it any more or less bright than the average strat. The Pearly Gates is bright, but not harsh. It should work well in a strat.

It's not a pure strat, but a strat style. Mine I mean.

So the PG should work in mine?

Sorry, thought you had a Big Apple. Those are alder too. The PG is still a decent choice even if your guitar is shrill. You can always use 250K pots with it if it turns out to be too bright with 500s.

Ok. Good to know. I wasn't sure what the big apple was made of, neither was the owner.

What about the Alnico Pro iis?

I have a Pearly Gate in my Fender MIM Deluxe Lonestar and I'm happy with it - Not too bright.

I use standard tuning, haven't tried the Alnico IIs in a strat.
