Half a new amp

Hi,

So I recently got a Vox Night Train Head (50W) on discount, but nowhere around me seems to stock the matching cab. (They have the 15W matching cabs, but not the 50W).

So now I need to buy a new cab to match it, any advice would be appreciated.

My budget would probably be $<400 AUD

I don't mind buying used, in fact there is a Marshall 1X12 100W Cab for 250$

Other cabs I've been considering are ones by Orange and Black-star;

(Not sure if relevant, but I mainly play Hendrix, blues, the most 'metal' thing I play is Van Halen)

Where in Australia? If Melbourne you may want to keep your eye on this.

They do, flat rate 50 shipping. I think the cab is a Harley Benton which is Thomann's house brand, but for the price, with V30s, they're a steal.

A Orange PPC112 1X12 is about $360;

Quick question, could the Vox 50W head work through a 100watt 8ohm speaker?

Just asking because there are three outputs; x2 8ohm outputs and x1 16ohm

if you are referring to a guitar speaker yes you should be fine. As long as the match on the head for the speaker and the speaker has more wattage. I would truly look for a 2x12" if you can find one.

I don't mean to be an ass, but why is all of your gear so jacked up in price. I am sure shipping may play a role, but tim built me two pedals in a box the price was $15 or so. I cant ship anything across the states for that hardly.

Small markets are easy to manipulate. Wages are a lot higher here too. Free market theory seems not to work in small markets. The prices rise to the highest the market can bear rather than prices falling to lowest suppliers can afford. Looks like market manipulation to me. The big eat the small and when they're all that's left they charge what they wish. We have a lot of money so that turns out to be quite a lot.

Only half an hour to go on that cab. I hope you're watching.

I never thought of Australia as a small market. i searched and you have around 23 million. The us is 320million (iirc). That will definitely be a difference in demand. ****.

Yeah, we have higher labor costs/shop lease/living expenses than anywhere else; Yes that means our wages are higher (i.e Casual jobs at the store checkout can be between 17-25$ per hour), but whether that is proportional to the prices we pay, I'm not entirely convinced. Allans use to be WAY worse 6months ago though.

Anyway, I'm looking at this http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/sis.html...4#ht_380wt_1075

Another thought would be to pay a woodworker to do it. Find your wanted cab dimensions and have him build it i have built a few.
