It should be. The Melody Maker was designed as a very basic guitar for the Gibson line. It has no bells and whistles, but the build quality is good. I am not crazy about the current incarnation of the guitar: a single cutaway Les Paul shape with what looks like a couple of Fender single-coil pickups, but if you like it, then by all means go for it.

but it says "Gibson" on it so it has to be awesome!

and it has to be far superior to any epiphone ever made because it's a GIBSON!!!!

and way better than those crappy made in japan fake copy lawsuit fake copy guitars that probably fall apart when you string them.

because IT SAYS GIBSON ON IT!!!!!!!!

You would bring Japan into this.

Check out PRS! They not only make superb high-end instruments, but have quality and consistency at the other end of the budget spectrum as well.

^Yes, pretty much any other option would be better, for the price you could literally find hundreds of better options; I literally don't even know the exact price of that guitar now-a-days, I'm just assuming at this point knowing what the modern Melody Maker consists of.

You have 2 options:

1. Get an actual Gibson Flying V
2. Regret not saving up to get one.

I'd rather have the Epiphone V than the MM V.

Why all the Gibson hate? They make great high-end instruments.

If you're on a budget, something else maybe.

Lets see how many headaches we can from a guitar.
