Wow, I've done some building, acoustic and an oak violin. I guess its time to try an electric now. Just hope its half as nice as yours. It looks great.

I'd love to start building guitars from scratch. I'm much too clumsy though, it's a wonder how I haven't mucked up what I've done to my guitars already.

Actually, dont ask about the binding on one of my guitars after trying to learn how to file down frets.

It will be finished! I've been ignoring anything guitar-related for the past month, whilst I fix my career and recover from redundancy. My projects were becoming a form of procrastination.

The waiting would be too long.

This ^^. Nobody would ever get their guitars and I'd make no money.

I made some rough progress today though:

Lots of sanding, scraping and fine-tuning to come.

I swapped my bench planer blades today and worked on the neck. The heel is probably going to need another 1-2mm taken off, but I want to deal with that after I fret the neck. Anyway, I'll look at carving the heel closer to the joint now, then fix the volute and smooth the entire profile.

I've also realised that this thing is almost a copy of an Ibanez I wanted when I first started playing.

Edit: Only because it's blue, no other reason.

People like you make me SICK.

Please excuse me whilst I accidently drop this picture...

Edit: I moved the heel closer to the body today, blended the rest of the neck, planed the tenon down and generally sanded a lot. The heel and volute will still probably be trimmed down further, and I'll check for blending issues tonight. Also, for giggles, hardware dry fit/dressing up:

Thanks guys!

I've given micro mesh a try this morning - it appears to make things quite shiny:

Pressed some frets in (24 of them to be precise),
Leveled some frets,
Dressed and crowned some frets,
Polished some frets.

Slow and steady wins the race!

God damn, Mint! That fretboard is so damn shiny.

I want one. Build me one.

Also, have you considered putting a hipshot on instead of the flatmount Fender style? I think it'd look better.

Thanks, fella!

I did think about a Hipshot or Schaller Hannes bridge, but those things are expensive and don't come in cosmo black You're absolutely right though - it would look better!

Neck glued in. Bridge pitch and alignment checked.

Everything seems to be in order so far! Next steps: finish neck profile and heel, seal/fill neck, oil everything, conductive paint in cavities, make coers and assemble...

Edit: I've also been given a rescued piece of sapele. It's 1320x135x30mm, so enough for a body blank or neck through.
