Crying is Metal

CRY

Let's get together and cry. Only the best of the best acts in Metals tearful history have been Unholy Black Metal enough to deliver us howls of baleful cries; weep and wail desperate throes of surrender; or sobbed the whimpering snivel of a cornered dying animal. Some fail and instead sound more akin to Mommy I'm Sad and we should oppose and crush their false attempts at our art with a bawling lament that overpowers theirs tenfold.

Dodsengel -Words of Uncreation
Arizmenda - Those Beaten Paths Of Confusion
Burzum - Spell Of Destruction

I'm not going to list all examples because I need you to prove just how proficient you are at Metal Crying. I made this thread for all of us to gather round and share our favorite crying tracks. I need literal crying. Sobbing. If you present a worthy addition to my Grand List you will be added to the Wall Of Tears with one teardrop.

Wall Of Tears

VampireGoldfish - III Teardrops
Stranglehold - II Teardrops
severed-metal - II Teardrops
Progbass - II Teardrops
Kepulix - II Teardrops
Scourge441 - II Teardrops
The Virtuoso - I Teardrop
rg_metal - I Teardrop
Cavalcade - I Teardrop
\PowerSlave/ - I Teardrop
Born_Headless - I Teardrop

Incredible song on an incredible album, but there is no literal sobbing to be found on either.

You must try harder Proggster.

Earn your place on the wall of tears.

if I could bend time to allow Україна's chorus to last forever, I would do so at the risk of sacrificing the rest of reality. That song makes my stupid american ass proud to be Ukrainian. I am not Ukrainian.

But no literal crying/sobbing/tears.

You must earn your rank on the Wall Of Tears Kepulix.

Bethlehem's Tagebuch Einer Totgeburt usually has me in utter ruin. I don't know how many times the slow & methodical riffs coupled with the ambient interludes have provided an atmosphere of hatred for oneself. Cultivation of sorrow.

I would put Lifelover's Konkurs as an album on the list solely due to its tenuous grasp on how to commit yourself to the art of pointlessness. The album manages to capture desolation and emptiness. A pointless and fragile existence.

EDITED FOR LACK OF READING ABILITY

Lifelover turns me into a lonely piece of shit. What an incredible project that was. I'd never call them Black Metal but who gives a shit? They play the soundtrack to your suicide with utmost expertise and the finesse of a surgeon whose knife tickles open the flesh of your irrevocable solitude.

Bethlehem - "Teufelverruckt Gottdreizehn" is a great example of THE METAL CRY

The wind called out my name as it was time for me to die. Place me on a ship afloat, and lay my sword down by my side.

From which of this oak shall I hang myself?
These ebon halls are always dark.
From which wooden bough shall I die?

From my will to my throat to the river, and into the sea.

Agalloch has touched me in a way that few artistic endeavors have; In that way where you know your passion for what ever it is that particular work of art has cultivated for you will surely never fade in strength. Stumbling upon Pale Folklore when it was first released marks an important epoch in my musical dynasty.

No literal sobbing though.

Are we just waiting for the inevitable Geist Ist Tuefel mention? Wailing is better than sobbing.

Wilhelm's vocals on "Der Zauberer" and "V" are indeed wails of the highest caliber. I was recently discussing Urfaust with a lady friend and we came to the conclusion that Urfaust's incredible sound is best described with sensational adjectives then it is with audio imagery. I cannot place their sound in a painting, but I can most assuredly explain what it feels like.

One that does not include our metallic tears, but instead induces blubbering:

Summoning - Land of the Dead

Far far away beyond might of day...

More tears: Mortifera's La Revenant, while not portraying true sobving, the track entails a surrender. An outburst of desperation. And to continue in the vein of France,

Peste Noire's Laus Tibi Domine. A chaotic representation of intense spite can only mean a hurt individual crying out in pain and suffering, eventually collapsing from exhaustion of all those tears. Pain and tears are synonyms.

Actual sobbing is worth a listen, but the pain felt from hearing an artist pour his blood and soul into a track is more satisfying to me.

I was literally going to put all three of these in my last post but decided against it. The yearning expressed in them to me signified what Veeg is looking for, but I didn't think it would quite get there.

Other possible thoughts were Type O Negative, Scald (which you took), Celestia, Bolt Thrower's ...For Victory, and dIS.

The ending parts to both of these songs pretty much always get to me.

Reverend Bizarre - Anywhere Out Of This World

"The old world has reached its dying days..."

Primordial - The Coffin Ships

"It feels like I've been here before.
Here, where the animals lay down to die.

I would also mention Warning's Footprints, but it might be too chee... Fuck it.

"I have laid down my armour, I have no sword at my side.
I leave behind me the ruins of the fortress I swore to defend."

This feels like cheating since VG already mentioned them, but "Evocation of Amezarak" has some good crying moments. DÝdsengel is just amazing, and I must be VG's slave for at least twenty years because he showed them to me. I'll have to think about this some more. Hmm...
