The Predecessors - New video (Metal / Melodic) C4C

Hey guys, Nathe here.

I started this "The Predecessors" thing a few years back as a solo project, so I've gone back to it to continue where I left off now that I've left the band I was in.
There's currently a full length in the works which will be a joint project with the drummer from my last band, Dave Sarre and his brother on vocals. We'll all be pushing ourselves as hard as possible to create something unique, in an already overly saturated market.

Here's the preview / play-through video for "Poet":

These are the first 2 tracks called "Wishing Well" and "Poet".

https://soundcloud.com/nathesinfiel...he-predecessors

http://soundcloud.com/nathesinfield...he-predecessors

Info:

DAW = Cubase 5
Drums = Superior Drummer and Kontakt 4 for the kick.
Guitars = TSE808, TSE_x50, Poulin LeCab (Mesa Boogie impulse)
Bass = Amplitube Ampeg
Mastering = Waves Audio

I'm sure there's loads of people out there like myself that have wrote and recorded music for years, but yet to put something out there which is what they wanted to create in the first place. So now I'm going back to the drawing board to write and record an album I'm 100% happy with and use the critique on here to help fine tune it. Even if zero people take notice when it's finished, at least I'll have a finished project which is finally what I wanted in the beginning.

Hope y'all enjoy

- Nathe

TP,
Listening to the first song. For me this is not melodic. It is very heavy (a bit too heavy for my taste), sounds more like death metal to me. Guitar playing is tight. Audio quality is good. Well done for the style. Please review my music at this link:

Sweet baby Jesus, what string gauge did you need for Poet? lol
I can actually see it as a djent track without any vocals, I think it would loose some of the atmosphere if you added them, but that's just my opinion (this genre is not my cup of tea, was expecting something a little more classic).
The ending is quite relaxing though, as well as the slower parts, I like it!

Can you check out my song, Trail of Brimstone?

Thanks for the reply man! I'll be putting a lot of time into the vocals, layering them and the patterns to ensure It compliments the music and isn't just there for the sake of it. I can't remember the exact gauge of my strings, but I know the bottom (low) string is .70 and I had to file the nut so I could fit haha Tuning on both tracks and nearly all my tracks in general is drop G.

I've just replied on your thread now!

TP,
"Wishing Well": I like the intro guitars & drums......holy glitch-o-rama! Almost sounded like a CD was malfunctioning for awhile. Audio quality is quite good. I wish it was more melodic at times, but it was an interesting listen. Some cool guitar sounds. Playing is tight. Please review my music at this link:

Wishing Well:
Guitars are super tight, laced in with all of that nice ambience. The drums had a lot of power to them, but the kick is maybe just a hair too "click-y", if ya catch my drift. Doesn't take away from how both beautiful and brutal that the song is. Love when everything kicked in at :30 for. Love that effect you use at 1:10 as well

Poet:
Would've loved to hear some vocals with this song. Shit had me strobe headbanging! Lol.
Once again, the rhythms are super tight, and you use very colorful guitar section to compliment them. That heavy ass section at 1:40 awesome! Wish the clean sections in the middle and ending evolved more, but it is what it is. Very nice.

I just released two songs separately, so that's why I'm suggesting 2 reviews for your 2 reviewed songs. Hope you enjoy

Nice intro, Good use of sound.
There's some great guitar parts, though it al seems over processed. I know that's the point..just like me guitars to be guitars..I'm an old schooler.
But overall the music and writing, composition and mixing is excellent.

Review mine and stick the boot in?
