Dove Pro pickguard modification

Hey guys, so I have an Epihpone Dove pro. I love the look of the guitar all except for the pickguard. So today I took some goof off to the flower design on the pickguard and now I have just a blank tortoise shell pickguard. I really like it but Im looking to get some other opinions on how it looks. Thanks!

if you can keep the flag on it, you're golden.
if that guitar isn't too old, i'd use a hair dryer to loosen the pickguard and remove it completely.
then, i'd put something a little less gaudy on.
looks better without the flowers but the guard is god-awfully large and oddly shaped....like you swung at a bat with your guitar !

But only half the bat stuck....

What a wonderful abstract association though! Is it all right if I borrow that for my next Rorschach test?

There Step, how do you like them apples, er I mean pickguards?

So I have another question then, what shape pickguard should I put on it? I am going to stick with tortoise shell but I want your guys' opinion on what shape. Thanks!

try it without the pickguard for a while. that honeyburst is a beautiful color. if i were to get one, that's the color i'd choose. you can use a static cling removable pickguard for a while if scratches worry you. i don't get pickrach on my guitars so i almost always remove the pickguards myself... shows off the beautiful wood. only one i kept it on was the recent mohogany topped one i got. the black pickgurad goes well with the black binding agains the dark top.
if you still desire a pickguard..you can buy a full sheet of material and fashion your own pickgurad design... favorite band, girldfriend's name, cool emblem shape... a Rorshach blot...
it's pretty simple stuff to use and cut out.
take your time and think of something truly unique..when you come up with something, just check out places like Stewmac.com for various designed sheet of it.
