I got adware somehow.

Whenever I leave my computer unattended for a while I get a popup for fake windows drivers or porn or some shit, thankfully Firefox blocks most of them now because they're all flagged as malicious but it's a little worrying. Strangely this doesn't happen if I'm using the computer for anything.

I've scanned with a bunch of free antiviruses/anti-malware etc and none of them have picked up anything. What do?

Just wait for the popup that links you to free antivirus software.

Get this, free or purchased it doesn't matter. https://www.malwarebytes.org/

I have it on my computer(s) and it does a good job.

Sometimes the easiest solution is really the best one.

Ok, I'll try and give you some actual helpful advice.

Basically try and think back to when this first started happening then go to uninstall/change a program option in the control panel menu and see if there are any programs that have been installed around that time, if any look unusual or you don't remember downloading them then uninstall them.

After this I suggest you go to firefox button (orange top left) and check your add ons and remove or disable any that look malicious or unusual. This can be as simple as a toolbar.
Also if you do find anything unusual in your add ons go back to programs and check there aren't programs left which look similar in nature or name.

After this go to firefox options and look under applications and again see if anything looks out of place or malicious.

Also if there is a program that won't uninstall you can download a free manual uninstaller online.

Hope this helps you bro.

You probably installed some software and didn't notice that it also installs another software.
Deamon tools is a good example of a program sneaking that shit in.

Just go through your list of installed programs and just uninstall any tool bar or recently installed program that you don't remember installing.

This. I've only gotten a couple of viruses over the years, my fault for taking risks with certain files in the interwebs and the last one I had, the antivirus/malware programs didn't pick up anything and a repair of my OS with the original disk did the trick. Failing that, full install may be needed.

Or maybe get it looked at by a pro PC repair guy if you don't wanna go down the reinstall route.
