Which Pod for my needs?

This is kinda recording related, but as it is a gear question too, I've posted here

I have my recording setup pretty much sorted now. I have amps, mics blah blah blah. However, I always seem to have a better creative mind at night when everyone is asleep.

I want to be able to play at night through headphones, as well as be able to record into my interface for demo tracks at night. I have also been wanting a decent way of producing a nice chorus-y clean tone (eg. Metallica and Bullet for my Valentine's earlier clean tones). I have decided to opt for a Line6 Pod of some sort.

I have seen two pretty cheap (second hand) models. The 2.0 and the XT. Now my dilemma is, which should I get based on my needs. I've noticed the 2.0 is a cheaper model and have been offered a pro verison of the 2.0 for fairly cheap. Is it worth the extra for the XT?

Cheers
Carl

The only advantage of the XT I can think of is access to the POD Farm where you can download other patches. idk if the 2.0 can do that. Are you looking at the floorboards or the processor modules (or whatever they're called lol)

The Pro and Desktop models are the one's im looking at. Something nice and practical on a desk or in a rack.

Are the sounds better in the XT do you reckon?

General consensus on the interwebz says the XT is better sounding.

I don't have any experience with PODs, honestly, other than the HD500. Like I said, the XT can access the POD Farm definitely. So you may not even need to program all that much if you look for the tone you need in there. You may need to pay for that software though. But you really get what you pay for with MFX units like that. Whichever one is the rack mount unit would probably be more useful.
