Pale Blues

A mid-tempo Americana-type thing I wrote. Crit4crit and all the jive.

Verse 1:
Smoke fills the space you left vacant
I've made it to four packs a day
I know the reason you called me
You want me to beg you to stay
There was a time that I would have
But that's just not me anymore
If seems so drawn out, it seems do exhausting
To go on like we did before

Chorus 1:
Pale blues are all I can muster
I've run out of love and of rage
When I look back now, I just feel tired
Like somebody three times my age
If I say you won, will that make you happy?
Will that make you leave me alone?
These pale blues ache in me softly
They buzz in my veins and my bones

Verse 2:

Three years dodging suspicion
Thinking I'm earning your love
Explaining my way through each accusation
Taking each lecture and shove
Watching my friend abandon me slowly
'Cause they're scared to come around here
Waking each day to your disappointment
Living each day out in fear

Chorus 2:
Pale blues are all I can muster
I've run out of love and of rage
When I look back now, I just feel tired
Like somebody three times my age
If I say I was wrong again will that end it?
Will that count as closure to you?
Will you just leave me here, by myself and smoking
Alone with these pale blues

Bridge:
There was a man who would pick the phone up
And cry 'til you finally came back
But I burnt him up and I swept out the ashes
Which reminds me I need a new pack

(Chorus 1)
