Anyone else a fan of this act? I'm a big fan of their music: the lovely melodies, brooding vocals and consistent album output makes this band top of the ladder for my tastes. (excuse garbage grammar)

They're loosely related to the Black Twilight Circle, but may as well admit they're apart of it. Solid collection of bands there, but that's not what we're here for. Ambient black metal without being pretentious or boring (up to you, queers).

Take a gander,

No idea where you want to start, their latest was a little inferior to the rest, but more-so just undermined by poor production. My personal favourite is RH-11, as it's the one I enjoy most.

Going on my list of stuff to check out. Why do they just list by catalog number instead of having proper titles I wonder?

Eh, some bullshit about mystery. Really about it. But it's easy to keep track of I guess.

Ohh so they are taking the whole thing beyond pseudonyms and such and just not naming anything I guess? I can see conversations now

guy #1 says to guy #2 "So have you heard that new song from Rhinocervs?"

guy #2 says "what song from Rhinocervs?"

guy #1 says " Untitled track 11 from RH-23 it really stands out from Untitled track 11 on RH-22."

guy 2 says " Meh I really enjoyed Untitled track 2 from RH-13."

COME THE **** ON what are they thinking?!?!?! lol

I like it. But $7 per demo off bandcamp seems a bit of a piss take.

I do see the ridiculousness for 7$ for digital. I don't really care as I just steal my music anyways or buy tape. Bands like this make a limited presses and hype it up, since they're already within an underground collective it's pretty easy to get attention without being that impressive. Hence they get away with prices like this, or they just don't care and if people are going to pay that much for digital music, then that's their problem.

But you can still listen to the album on their bandcamp for free so it's almost self-defeating to put a digital copy that expensive. Their physical copies go for outrageous amounts already (in my eyes not worth the exorbitant prices, nothing really is in metal), so just stay with that free digital listening and you'll be set.

2 mysterios 4 u Jacobi. They're not that unheard of. You evidently don't spend any time on secret online underground ambient black metal forums.

Yeah I found some downloads, rather that than $7 for a digital copy of a demo. If they had a "proper" album I'd be fine with it. But $6/7 per demo is stupid.

Yeah, that kind of turned me off too...

But whatever.

Listening to RH-07.

track 1: This would work in a soundtrack. I feel like it pairs well with visual direction.

track 2: I like the layering ideas on top of each other, but this needs more development. Again, could be in the background of some movie or something.

track 3: It's doing the post-rock thingy well, ambient fairly well, but not so much the black metal. They should stick to the first two, the whole "harsh vocals through a cellphone because burzum did it" thing isn't really adding to the music. The choir/chanting on the other hand...very nice.

It's only a demo though, so as a rough draft, these are things that can be hashed out. Any plans for a full-length?

Also, they're from Long Beach. Sweet! That's like an hour away from where I live(d).

Will check out the rest later.

Mayhap, I will listen to this when I'm not at work. It better go well with Dark Souls 2.

AFAIK this isn't actually one band. Rhinocervs is the record label, and each release is a different band recording something anonymously.

Most of it is usually awesome though.
