So it was July 7th? Can't believe I missed it, but I'll still listen to it again as part of celebrating.

They should celebrate by playing the album in its entirety. I'd do anything to see that.

Balls. Those who saw it got a treat. Wonder if LaBrie can still hit that F# in Learning to Live.

Check out Train of Thought. That whole album is pretty heavy. Just off the top of my head...The Dark Eternal Night is up there with the heavier ones.

thanks for the recommendations, i'm learnt dark eternal night on bass for my recital about a month ago, but the guitar was too similar to the bass. going to listen to train of thought now XD

I would say Nightmare to Remember or Train of Thought. Nightmare has a lot of downtuned guitar, some decent shredding, plenty of blast beats, and even the occasional Mike Portnoy attempting (Note, Attempting!) to growl while singing really bright lyrics. It's lovely.

Or just go with Train of Thought.

To me Honor Thy Father is the heaviest song overall, but Dark Eternal Night has the heaviest DT riff of all time at the end.

Check out this interview with Petrucci,

42 seconds in "if anything, I like him better"
I was pretty sure for a while that MP wasn't coming back but now I'm convinced.

It's kind of funny...Portnoy said he needed a break because he was worn out...yet he's recorded, released albums, and toured with two new bands he made after leaving. There's a lot we as fans of the band don't know regarding the split, but Mike really hasn't given anyone reason to believe his side of the story.

Dance of Eternity, definitely. It changes time signatures far too much.
