Octavarium is probably the most accessible, but Scenes from a Memory and Images and Words are what most would say are their best.

5:43 on this video made me a little happy. I always wonder how some of these bands simply just don't forget some parts

Beyond This Life, or Glass Prison maybe. It's debatable.

My brother scratched my Octavarium CD beyond playability -_-

What should I do to get him back for this horrendous crime? I was thinking hanging by the thumbs in the dungeons, but that's a little bit under extreme....

Scratch his face off. This story ends where it began...

I've listened to Awake twice or thrice. I just can't seem to get into it. I really want to, but can't.
Anyone else faced this problem?

^ I honestly don't remember how long it took me to get into Awake, but it's definitely one of my favorite albums of theirs, right alongside SFAM (which I loved on the first listen).

I'm not the biggest fan of Awake. Best thing out of that era is A Change of Seasons...that is a masterpiece and my personal favorite DT song.

What would be the best album for a person to start with with these guys?

It's a harder album to take in I find, but once you do it's awesome. I love the production/performance on it, IMHO best sound DT has ever had.

Images and Words or Scenes From a Memory imo. Both fantastic examples of their style and work.

Images and Words has far too many 80's sounds on it and meh passages.

Same.

I mean I like it, but I have to force myself to listen to it every once in a blue moon.

It's got the most unique sound in terms of production though compared to all the rest of the albums.
