The speed. Yes. Thats all.
I just enjoyed playing seriously fast rythym guitar for the past year and then i believe I saw a malmsteen video and thought "I can pick that fast" and then found myself severly wrong, but intruiged by the speed. Now, as im learning lead, im appreciating shred a little more - cant say i'd ever be a shredder, but i certainly appreciate what they do. And i like the principles of certain shred techniques, if not their use in shred. So im going to steal them! But if anything will actually get me into shred, its gonna be rusty. |

I had heard about Vai and Satch, but never heard their stuff, so I bought a G3 dvd. I really liked it a lot. I also saw speed lives and though "I'm gonna play like that". That was about 2 months ago. I have no idea who some of these shred artists you guys talk about are, because I'm new to shred. The main reason I like shred is because I know it is the genre that is guitar based and involves the most technique.

I got into DT, not for the shred but for the awesomeness of it. Then I realized how fast he was playing, and I was like psh I'll never do that. Then I came to the shred/prog forum and realized that it is possible to be good when you're young, then I started practicing a lot. Hm what a story

I tried a JEM the other day at a guitar center, they had the damn thing sitting in the front of the store!! I was like "someones gonnn steal this thing"!!! But I tried it out for a couple of hours, It has to be one of the most comfortable guitars I have ever played. perfect sound, look, fret action, tremolo is perfect, but the only bad thing is the price.
