Um no, that was really stupid. You could try being patient. Also, try critting other peoples stuff so they give you a return crit.

arghh, recently i put up a couple of threads, (in the past month) and on the last one, i critted every thread on the front page with less than 5 crits (which was more than half, took me forever) and each one was a solid paragraph or two per song, not negative but helpful, and the only thing i get back is one crit that says "nice job"

what the hell, people? i think if i consistently crit lots of people in high detail and leave links i should at least get most back.


oh, and another thing on the topic of bumping. recently i have had a few people return crits to me, but post it on their own thread instead of mine. no huge deal if its accidental, a crit is a crit. but if it lets my thread fade away while pushing theirs to the top, its not really fair.
dont know if there is a rule about that.

i strictly keep my c4c word, and hope everyone else does. however, i'm curious; can you bump your thread if you updated the music? for example, i added a newer version of the song. i should edit the thread, and not add a new reply, right? or is bumping ok in this situation

Oh my god, Ive critted, with at least a whole paragraph about 6 songs in the last 24 hours, I've had one reply, and that guy didn't even listen to the song anyway. On one crit the TS even replied to my comment, but didn't C4C, wtf?

I've listened to all these peoples songs given honest criticisms, that have taken me some time to write, I've said what worked what didn't, where they could improve. etc.

None of the comments I've had on my songs even relate to the track, I'm guessing they didn't even bother to listen.

I hate to come across as a whinging noob, but from what I've seen the c4c system isn't working.

i was thinking we could make a group and everyone interested in "C4C"ing could join, and a have a nice/naughty list there .
but one question. what do you do if (repetedly) it happens that you crit someone's work and you don't receive any crits back(after you've waited a while of course)?

Just to reiterate...

1- MAKE SURE YOU ADD LINKS TO YOU THREADS!
(People have a bad habit of "errrr....should be top of my profile")

2- SOMETIMES RETURNING A CRIT TAKES DAYS FOR SOME PEOPLE.

3- LIVE AND LEARN, KEEP YOUR OWN "NAUGHTY/NICE" LIST
(an "official" one wouldn't work, too many people drop off the face of the planet for weeks at a time)

4- BE SELECTIVE OF WHO YOU CRIT!
(critting someone who has a vid of themselves just shredding on YouTube is not likely to crit back, stick with critting actual SONGS)

5- TRY TO HAVE YOUR SONG ON YOUR UG PROFILE OR AS MP3.
(GP files, Soundclick.com, MySpace...ect, Doesn't work for everyone. Upload it to UG and no one will have a prob hearing it.)

6- RATE SONGS ON UG PROFILES.
(or try to leave a comment at least. Some people check their PF but forget to check their threads.)

7- CRIT SIMILAR GENRES.
(When I wanted crits for my piano song, I searched for other piano-like shit)

and finally...
DON'T JUST CRIT THE FRONT PAGE!!!
(You'd be surprised how fast some will crit back)
