hardly anyone ever suggests funk. Try some Bootsy Collins, Larry Graham, Sly and the Family Stone, George Clinton, the Commodores, stuff like that

I've never heard Bootsy slap. He's a fingerstyle funk bassist.

^ most RHCP's don't have slap in it. I think you're forgetting they've made 3 albums since BSSM. (Although OHM is suprisingly slap filled, Californication and BTW... not so much. Plus in the old days, most of the songs people didn't hear off the albums weren't slap based.) And I would consider Rolling Sly Stone and If you want me to stay way funkier. But, I suppose that's opinion. And the guy wanted non-Flea stuff lol.
Slow ride by Foghat early Rage I believe early Incubus

Severed by Mudvayne but thats a little advanced...Great basslines though you should hear it...Ryknow (Ryan Martinie i think) the bassist for Mudvayne is the one of the best if not the best bassist in nu metal or w/e u wanna call it...

Any more suggestions, and RHCP has no slapping in it....except for higher ground.
