apart from the popular classic tunes already mentioned such as Blackbird, Landslide, Dust in the Wind etc... there's a really nice fingerpicking song on the new Paul Mccartney's album called "Jenny Wren"; great fun to play; it uses sort of a Blackbird-style picking. Don't know if there's a tab for it yet but it is definitely worth learning

Love Will Keep Us Alive by Eagles is the best fingerpicking exercise there is. Possibly best song fingerpicking song too.

Um...How about Eriatarka-The Mars Volta
Not originally played on acoustic OR fingerpicked. But it sounds absolutely beautiful that way. |

"The Bard's Song" by Blind Guardian. Great for two people to play together.

Beatles:
Dear Prudence (in drop D ...) Julia (capo on II) Bruce Cockburn: Foxglove (in open C tuning) Pacing the Cage (Capo on IV) Train in the Rain (open c, I think) When I started out I practiced a wide variety of picking patterns to train my fingers (pipm, etc.). This has made it much easier to play new songs & to learn them by ear. |

I put it in another thread, but I think I'll copypasta it here, it seems relevant. Quote:
Heh, technically, it was "songs to impress girls" but all of them are excellent fingerpicking songs.

Acoustic #3 - Goo Goo Dolls
Slow Motion - Third Eye Blind Still - Foo Fighters Into Dust - Mazzy Starr Battle of the Beaconsfield Miners - Foo Fighters Razor - Foo Fighters Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana played acoustic sounds GREAT too! I know these might not be up there with Tesla, Clapton, and Zepplin but they're still good for practicing and learning. Has anyone mentioned the Who's "Behind Blue Eyes" yet? The beginning is beautiful. Oh and Green Sleeves too! (Also called King Henry the 8th- I believe) |
