Yup, a new band of the month, a few days early but who the hell cares.
one of my favorite bands from Holland, seen them a couple of times and allways enjoyed their shows. Cool guys too, bought a bunch of cd's from Jigs not so long ago. They're from Zwolle, or Zwollywood as the Dutch hc fans like to call Z-town ![]() AMONG THE LIVING ![]() Bio Among the living starting out in the winter of 2001 with the intention to play the music they were all into without having to worry about originality. All members have different backgrounds but they all share the love for music in general and the desire to play in an energetic band which has no limits when it comes to brutality and heavyness. In july 2002 Among the living recorded their 3 song demo (discontent records) which received good reactions and was sold out in one month. With a mix of powerful hardcore and brutal metal riffs Among the living has played over 50 shows in the last two years with amazing bands like : No turning back, Kickback, Shattered Realm, Himsa, INRI, Black friday 29, Dominator, 50 Caliber, Inhuman, Caliban and tons more. In the summer of 2003 Among the living headed to the Franky's recording kitchen. Under the supervision of God dethroned's Henri Sattler they recorded 10 songs which will see the day as a 6 song mini cd on Dark Chronicle records and a split 10" (Deadlock records) cd (Crash landing records/ virgin blood records) with Dominator. Among the living Roel - vocals Robin - drums Gerard - guitar Arno - guitar Jigs - bass ------------------------ In the meantime, ATL called it quits in 2005, they've played their farewell show which totally tear down the whole venue. ATL style. WEB http://www.amongtheliving.net/ http://www.zchc.tk/ MP3 (right click and save as...) ATL - Broken Foundation ATL - Torn Apart ATL - Shivers these songs are all off their cd 'Broken Foundation' they also have an old demo tape out and their latest release was a split with DOMINATOR, I prefer the stuff of BF though. Allright, that's all. check out the mp3's and let's hear what you gotta say about ATL. I've been into them for ages and I still love this band, they're not all that original but they do have their own sound and they're very moshable. Last edited by *Def* : 08-29-2005 at 06:35 AM. |

I checked out two of the three MP3's and they are pretty good. As you said they're not terribly original but there is something in there that defines their sound.
It's good to see a new BOTM and someone I haven't heard of before ![]()

at first I couldn't stand the vocals that I heard on their demo tape but on the cd (where the mp3's are from) I really started to like the vocals on it, not that standard stuff and not that screamy crap either, just hardcore, in a good way.
the song Shivers linked here is a good example of it, IMO. I guess the vocals help define their sound, also the ballsy riffs they use, sometimes just a bit too slow and cliché'd but it has it's own charm. |

they don't get selected, someone just pics out a band and posts the thread about it. usually people ask me before they put it up, so you don't get double botm's and I can sticky them when the new one is up.
most important is, it better be a good band.. plus we don't need threads about way obvious bands, it's a nice way to check out something new every now and then.... as far as Among The Living goes, I still dig them after 4 years, it's more sentiment for me since they're Dutch and they're pretty much unknown outside of Holland. |
