Boss NS-2 effects loop..?
so, i just read some guys post (i don't know who's or where it was, but i JUST now read it) and it said something about using both the input and the pedals effects loop...
would this mean running my guitar into the INPUT, the OUTPUT goes to the amp, and then... what would I do with the SEND and RETURN jacks on the pedal? I thought I had the idea worked out, but typing it made me more confused. ![]()

That is confusing.
You can run your effects pedals and noise suppressor 1 of 2 ways, depending on which you choose. 1. Plug your guitar into the amp and use the amp's effects loop for the noise supressor and other effects. or 2. Plug your guitar into your pedal chain (which has the noise supressor at the end of it) and send that to your amp's input.

^ ditto. anyway other than that (especially the one you mentioned) is ridiculous/harmful.

If you're running a distortion pedal or something of that sort, then run it through the send/return of the noise suppressor. if you're using amp distortion, run your pedal through the amp's effects loop.
sorry if i made this more confusing to you or if i mixed up at all x_x that's the easiest way to get rid of amp hum and actual feedback. |

no that's how the ns-2 is made. Dave_Mc will back me up on this seeing as we both own/used to use them, but now use ISP Decimaters anyway you go: Guitar -> input -> loop send -> amp input -> amp FX loop send -> pedal loop return -> pedal out put -> amp FX loop return. EDIT: think of the amps pre-amp as a distortion pedal that you're putting in the NS-2's loop.

That won't work. gpderek09 got it right, the signal that actually gets cleaned is whatever comes back into the return jack on the pedal. The method he wrote is the best way to kill both the amp and the pedal's noise. It just involves lots of cables.

Okay, so I'm still a little confused, but I think I've got the idea... I only got more confused trying to write it out... so I made a diagram, and I'd like it if ANYONE can tell me if I've got it right yet.
[IMG] [/IMG] the green cable is the amps effects send and the red is the amps return. the phase90 represents the pedals i have going INTO the amp the flanger represents the pedals i currently have in my loop.. am i on the right track? EDIT: btw.. is this in the manual? maybe I should have read it before i threw it away... lol

You're going to want the Phase 90 before the Noise supressor in the loop.
I'm not an expert when it comes to using the effects loop. When I've used noise supressors, it's always come at the end of my pedal chain which is into the amps input, not effects loop.
