You know, after giving it a few listens, Powerless Rise doesn't do it for me as much as it did. It's a good album, don't get me wrong, but it's not on the same level as An Ocean Between Us. The general style is the same, but the songs on Ocean are so much catchier IMO.

I get to miss them on tour with BTBAM. The one week I'm gone and they go and play the House of Blues near me.

I loved The Powerless Rise. There weren't breakdowns every 5 seconds, like in their previous albums. My favorite Songs were "Anger and Apathy", "Upside Down Kingdom", and "The Only Constant is Change". The album was just so much more melodic and creative than the previous albums.
Good work AILD. |

They open with a taped into of the tapping from This Is Who We Are. Open with 94 Hours, then they played An Ocean Between Us, after that I can't remember the order but they played:
Nothing Left The Sound of Truth Within Destruction Vacancy Anodyne Sea Beyond Our Suffering Through Struggle Closed with Confined. I was mad at no Parallels, Upside Down Kingdom, or FOREVER. How do you NOT play your most popular song? I saw their best set last year on the Protest The Hero/The Human Abstract, so I'm contempt.

I think it's funny the way everyone imposes their OPINION on everyone else.
I like As I Lay Dying, I enjoy listening to their music and I enjoyed seeing them live, if you don't like their music, then that is your opinion and you are entitled to it, but seeing person after person just post something like 'AILD sucks, they are generic metalcore, deal with it' is just proof of how obnoxious and totally F*cking annoying people can be. They're a generic metalcore band? So what? If you enjoy their music, it doesn't matter! Do you expect every single band in the world to not be generic to their genre? Are you saying that no two bands in the same genre should sound similar? A lot of you people need to get a grip. Say your not a fan of them because you've never really liked their music, not say 'they're too generic' because guess what? That's just you being as generic as everyone else in the world who says that you f*cking hypocritical b*stards. /rant

/unnecessary I've only seen them live a few times, but they've always been sloppy as fuck. Did I just catch them on bad days, or are they always a bit messy live? And no, I don't want to hear from a fanboy who thinks they can do no wrong. Every band has bad days, but it seems like I've never seen them on a good one.

Fair enough. I've never seen 'em live, so I can't offer any kind of opinion there. Their live DVD seemed good, but there's a lot that could contribute to that (being good live =/= good live DVD and vice versa). I just like the CDs they put out.
