Band... No Gear

Ok, I've just about managed to get a band together. I am probably (definatly) the most technically advanced person in it.
The problem is... I'm the only one without proper equipment. The other guitarist has a Peavey Bandit (not great but it would do some small local gigs), the drummer has a decent drum set and cymbals and skins and the bassist has a kickass bass and even more kickass amp (his sister used to play) but all I got is a 12 watt amp...
I can get a decent tone out of it but it isn't loud enough because the local places that I'll be gigging don't have a PA. What should I do? I haven't got enough money to buy an amp so don't even suggest it.
I've already written so much songs (everyone I showed it to said they were kickass... then again of course they would say that but my guitarist seemed extraordinarily enthusiastic about one of them in particular) and I want to play them as soon aspossible. What do I do?
I hope to be getting a new amp in about 6 months but I can't wait that long. I'm sure I could get a freind to loan me an amp for a gig but I'll need it for practice aswell for alot of the time. I've got a kickass guitar at least.

i had a 10wtt marshall amp, and that couln't even be heard over teh drummer. there are a few options, buy an amp from a friend (i bought a peavy rage 158 from a friend for $15, so i could at least practice) or, it sounds like the other amps work just fine for your bandmates, buy a splitter, ask if you could split off of one of their amps. it works. i also tried that.

You could get another crap amp and join them together. At my drummers house I play through two Fender 15W's... which gets me loud enough.

I'll be getting an AVT50 Half-Stack at some point in the near future though, so all is good.

But how old are you anyway?

You don't have to be really serious about gigging until 17/18 anyway to be honest; thats when most oppurtinitys; bars/pubs/clubs, open themselves to you.

I'm 15. I dont have any money so an amp is out of the question. I already said that I can't borrow a freinds amp except from the occasional gig. Thanks!

Hmm... Well its Christmas time? Just ask for one, and if your parents say no, just hope you get cash for Christmas, then sell every item you don't want (Including your old amp) and you should have enough to get a decent amp.

I would suggest going to a pawn shop and buying and extension cab. I have found many used Peavey 2x12 cabs in pawn shops for less than $100, it's not too hard to scrounge up $100. Also, and extension cab will continue to be useful even after you get a better amp.

I have a 15 watt. And theres about only one place in town to play gigs at(I don't even really have a actual band yet).

Although I do have a suggestion. It's a lil thing called a fund. You basically get a jar or something, and save money in it for an objective, adding to it over time. They usually work if your pacient(sp?)

theres sure to be someone in the area who has an amp, even if it came from an off brand starter kit. find as many amps as you can borrow, and hook them up together.

1. Highjack my thread, use bad grammer and ask a stupid question... Buy a bass guitar from a shop or the internet.
2. Don't bring it, practice at the drummers house.
3. Take them? how do you know they're gonna sell it to you?

Back to me.
I CAN borrow an amp but not every time. PLEASE read this before contradicting what I say!

EDIT: sorry about the amp buying thing lol
