okay i put this here because it ends in "core" heres the deal: my freind and i have been debating recently on what is really "Grindcore" my friend says grindcore is bands like The Number 12 looks like you and Daughters while I say bands like Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death. So are his bands like a new age grindcore or are they at all or am I a ******?

i wouldn't necessarly call converge grindcore, there a mix of alot of stuff. but when i think of grind core I think of napalm death. but no i wouldn't call btbam or number 12 grindcore at all. But maybe the genre is expanding the way the term hardcore expanded so that as i lay dying is now considered hardcore.

Cannibal Corpse: Death metal
Number 12: Technically "chaos-core" if you really wanna get into obscure genre classifications that don't really exist, but they're grind/metalcore.

Yes Yes Napalm Death was the ORIGINAL grindcore band... it was also originally a power trio, with influences in punk.

There's the original, more crusty grindcore like early-Napalm Death, Terrorizer, Repulsion, Assuck etc.

Then you get later stuff like Discordance Axis, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Pig Destroyer etc.

...Cannibal Corpse=death metal.
