Best CR Improvisor?

Which CR guitarist(s) do you guys think is the best improvisor?

For me, my top five choices would be...

1) Duane Allman
2) Santana
3) Dickie Betts
4) Jimi Hendrix
5) Jerry Garcia

If listened to and watched all of these guys live, and I must say they are extremely awesome at what they do. So I'm wondering if you guys have a similar list or different guitarists in mind.

Throw Clappy up there. I like his style, he plays smooth as butter.

I like Joe's stuff but I honestly haven't heard enough of him live to judge whether he's a good improvisor... unless he improvises the solos on their studio albums.

I would definetly throw J Page up there. I love what he does to Kashmir on certain live shows. Also Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman from Yes improv their songs a lot. Check out South Side of the Sky on their new 35th anniversary dvd I'd recommend buying it.

he improvs most solos live. He's great, and I think Brad Whitford is just as good, if not better.

Anyways, my vote is for Jerry Garcia.

Hendrix. Like (I think it was) Pete Townshend said, he's the Charlie Parker of guitar.
