I am not happy about my monarchy. I don't care if it's quaint or traditional. It's an outmoded structure with no purpose other than taking the tax payer's money.

I'm alright with our royal family. They're decent peeps.
Also, I've read about the British royal family that they stimulate the economy through tourism alone enough to make up for what they cost.

Yours don't work? Hah, losers! Unless you don't count involvement with government, state trips, ceremonial stuff and charity stuff as work. Ours is supposed to work like 60 hours a week, and she's 75.
And her son, who's gonna be our king come Spring does all kinds of good things for anything to do with water projects. Irrigation in dry countries, flood prevention, water quality and the like.Now I sound like a fanboy. ![]() Quote:

I found out Queen Elizabeth II didn't start paying income tax until the 1990s. Despite all the "good work" and "tourism" royals provide, the fact that they exist is a big shit stain on democracies that people have fought and died for for hundreds if not thousands of years.

I'm not pro monarchy, I'm just not anti-monarchy either (unless it's a real monarchy like Saudi Arabia).
With that said I don't agree with the 'royal family provides economic growth with tourism' argument. If the monarchy was abolished Britain would still have loads of tourism. The English royal family are also the most annoying. The Swedish (and Dutch and basically all of the others) royal family is way cooler. Too bad the bunny ears photo isn't real though. :/ |
