That aside.. I've always liked a good portion of Pantera's music, but I think the worldwide necro-fellation of Dime's corpse is appalling (and there will probably be lots of it in this thread).

i truely loved their music.dime was one badass mofo.with the guitar heart of a demon.i will truely miss his playing.if anybody learns any of his riffs,solos,or any guitar part he has on a song.learn it note for note.no halfassing it.and you will understand.get ur pull.

i liked their groove style....feel that 'The Great Southern Trendkill' is quite an underrated album

Overrated, but good none the less, VDoP was the only album I really got in to.

one of my favorite bands of all time... honestly (flame on this if you want), i think Pantera is the best example of what a metal band should be, in terms of attitude, songwriting, etc. etc.
favorite album is a toss-up between Far Beyond Driven and Great Southern Trendkill.

Pantera Owned, pure and simple.
I've paid enough respect to Dime, I won't overmilk it, like a lot of the Rock Press have. But he was amazing, nonetheless.

I love Pantera. Dimebag is hella overrated but he was damn good. Trendkill is a superb album.

CFH is where it's at, with Trendkill being a second. The problem with the other albums IMO was that they were kind of inconsistant, one song will crush and one would suck (IMO, like Walk). I got really obsessed with them for a while, but the original impact faded somewhat. Great band, albiet flawed.
Dime was fucking killer, regardless of the mallcore kids who worship him as a trend. While he deserves the respect and reverance after his death, it's not that metalheads over-do it, it's that the mallcore kids first getting into metal put him on a pedestal like a god when they know nothing about metal and use Dime to pretend like they do. That's the bad part.
